Parasites - one of the most interesting predators in the world.
Unlike other predators who kill their prey before eating them, parasites stick themselves to their target host who is still alive and eat away their life force slowly and gradually until nothing is left for them to eat.
The nature of most humans is similar to those parasites.
They always suck up to those who are stronger than them and always look down on people who are weaker than them. In both cases, they benefit from the other party until they're of no use in the end.
Currently, Eun-jae was the perfect target for them – a prey to exploit in any way possible.
-------
When he realised that they already knew about his secret, Eun-jae became speechless. His face turned pale and he was shivering from head to toe. Although he came prepared knowing what would happen, he was still afraid of the consequences.
When the homeroom teacher entered the classroom right after Eun-jae's arrival, he quietly sat down on his chair and avoided any eye contact with others the entire time. Even during the lectures in the first half, Eun-jae would occasionally feel sharp gazes and animosity around him that almost gave him chills down the spine. But he never looked back or responded to those gazes. For him, those hours were so hectic and stressful that he wanted to leave the class right away before anything could happen. He was desperately waiting for the recess bell to ring.
And when the bell finally rang and lunch break started, things didn't go his way. Just when he was about to leave the class after the lecturer left, a group of people surrounded him and blocked his exit.
Among them, one person stood out the most – Han Myung-jun.
Han Myung-jun was one of those classmates whom Eun-jae wanted to avoid at all costs. Not only was he the strongest guy in the class, he was a big bully and ruthless person who never showed mercy to those who were weaker than him. Furthermore, Eun-jae and him were never on good terms with each other since kindergarten.
Therefore, Myung-jun approaching him with his gang was not a good sign.
Park Eun-jae glanced at him and asked calmly. "What do you all want?"
Myung-jun smiled. "Don't be so uptight. I just want to talk."
He grabbed an empty chair nearby and sat down while the rest stood behind him.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"You see, our friend Young Goo here said something interesting about you."
'Huh? Young Goo? What is he talking about?' Eun-jae thought to himself.
"What!? I don't understand. Please speak properly."
"I heard you visited Young Goo's father recently. Is that true?" Myung-jun asked.
Eun-jae had a puzzled look on his face. He never was close with Young Goo and only knew his name. So, it was impossible to meet his father. "Who are you talking about?"
"Ah! You didn't know? Young Goo's dad is an ability specialist working at Unity Medical Centre. Isn't that right, Young-goo?" Myung-jun glanced at an orange haired boy who was standing right behind him.
"Yes." the boy answered.
Eun-jae widened his eyes in surprise and he quickly took a peek at Young Goo who was awkwardly nodding his head towards Myung-jun.
Eun-jae finally understood how everyone got to know about his truth. Although it was a mere coincidence that his father happened to be the person who examined his body, his luck was really bad.
In this world where ability was everything, he didn't obtain one and for ability users like Myung-jun, people like him were no more than cockroaches. His classmates were just confirming the facts from him so that they can crush him whenever they want.
'This guy is ability less and also will never awaken an ability. So, whatever we do to him, he's never gonna bite us back in the future as he will be an ordinary kid forever.' This is what they must be thinking right now.
"Hello??" Myung-jun waved his hand over his face as Eun-jae was in his own world.
"Oh! Sorry!" He was lost in the thoughts that he almost forgot about Myung-jun in front of him.
"So, you visited his dad, right?" He asked again.
Eun-jae nodded.
"I see…" His face suddenly became serious. "I also heard you're ability less. Is that true?"
Eun-jae didn't know what to say. He looked around and everyone in class had their focus on him. They didn't make it obvious, but he could tell.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." He assured Eun-jae.
'If only he was sincere with those words.' Eun-jae thought to himself while sighing inwardly.
Eun-jae wanted to deny it at first. But since he was planning on telling them the truth anyway, he thought it wouldn't matter from where they learn about his secret anymore. Moreover, lying to them would only make the situation worse for him. Hence, he told them what they wanted to hear.
"That's right. I am ability less." He answered calmly.
"Is that so… you motherf**ker!" Myung-jun looked at him with bloodshot eyes.
A kick came flying towards him, and Eun-jae fell down while his chair was broken into pieces.
'I knew it. This jerk!' Eun-jae gritted his teeth after seeing him attack out of nowhere.
"So, you're just a piece of trash now." Myung-jun smirked.
He then slowly approached Eun-jae with his gang while clenching his fists tightly.
Then, a barrage of kicks and punches landed on several parts of Eun-jae's body as he let out a cry in pain due to the severe beating he was receiving.
Sometime later, when the bell rang indicating that the lunch break was over, the gang stopped beating him and everyone got back to their seats.
Except for one person.
While Eun-jae was writhing in pain laying down on the cold floor, Myung-jun crouched down and whispered into his ears. "This is just a trailer. The real show will began from tomorrow onwards. Look forward to it."
He viciously smiled and returned to his seat.
