Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Robert had to delay Kristal's flight. He spent the rest of the day listening to the radio broadcasts and speculating his every move for the following day. His car would not operate in the coming low oxygen level. He would have to use the jet.

The next morning, he went outside and noticed how much harder it was to breathe. He went to the jet and made sure there was enough oxygen. He wanted to get started on the fourth dimension transfer box but that would take several days. Robert went into the house and told Kristal not to worry. He told

her he was going to leave her alone tonight and promised that he would be back by -2:00 AM. He sat her down on the couch and said: "As the day grows longer, you're going to find it harder to breathe but don't worry about it. Everything is going to change at 10:00 PM tonight. Just keep the doors and windows shut and wait for me to return. Ok?"

"Ok, but where are you going?"

"Don't you remember? I'm Superman. I'm going to save the world."

"You're not Superman. But I believe you."

"I'm going to try and bring someone very special back with me.

Her name is Kathy. She is going to be my wife." Kristal lowered her

head and looked at the floor. "Don't worry babe, you'll always be

special to me." Robert sat down beside her and put his arm around her

and asked: "What do you wish for?"

"I wish I could have somebody like you all to myself."

"Your wish is granted. Before I send you home, I'm going to give

you something that will make you irresistible to any boy you choose."

"What does irresistible mean?"

"It means that the boy you choose will like you so much

he cannot turn away. It's like a love potion."

"Will it be another metal box?"

"No darling, it will be a part of you." "Will I feel the same

irresistibility."

"Irresistibility? Yes, but only if you choose." Kristal gave

Robert a hug around the neck not wanting to let go.

The evening finally approached and soon it would be dusk.

Robert had already double checked everything, breathing almost twice as hard as usual. He opened the rear hangar doors and then went to the house to check up on Kristal. She was deeply involved in a television movie.

Darkness had finally fallen and Robert approached the

hanger. There was an eerie stillness in the night and the only sound that could be heard was that of a cricket chirping somewhere in the grass. Every sound Robert made, made a strange echo

which resounded against the hanger walls. Robert entered the jet and put on his oxygen mask. He wondered just how much of a

panic' all of this was causing throughout the world.

There was panic in scattered areas, but most of the world held

together well in the best composure the people could manage.

All they had to believe in now was the promise they had received from

NASA. They awaited the hour to perform the required task.

Robert was now approaching Dallas. He travelled at normal air speed and kept the aircraft below five hundred feet to avoid radar. He used his own radar to avoid any upcoming obstructions. The jet travelled silently with only the wisp

of the wind at its wings. Robert finally reached Kathy's house and set the jet down in the street in front of her house. All

the lights in the neighborhood were out, including the street lights. There was no moon, only complete darkness. Robert climbed out of the jet and walked cautiously toward her door. He sensed no danger. He knocked on the door and Kathy opened it immediately and gave Robert the strongest hug she could manage. She had

been pacing for hours. "I'm scared Robert, let's get it over

with quickly."

"It's only nine 0 clock. We should at least do this in unison

with the rest of the world. I have a notion that something spectacular

is going to happen. Quick, let's get inside before

you lose your air."

Throughout the world, many people were sealed safely inside their

homes, praying and waiting for the promised hour to come.

They entered the house and Kathy led Robert to the couch

and said: "Was that an Air Force jet I saw in the street?"

"It's a spaceship."

"Oh my gosh. When will you ever stop surprising me?" "Hopefully

never." Robert leaned over and kissed her as

compassionately as he could imagine. She leaned away and Robert

followed her lead, resting his head on her bosom. There was nothing

else said. Robert just lay there content from all of

the months they had been separated. There was great love in their

hearts as they lay there, silently falling asleep.

At 9:45 PM, Robert's watch began beeping and the two of them

awoke. Robert looked at Kathy with a glimmer in his eyes and said: "It

is time my love. Will you be mine forever?"

"Are you going to carry me through the threshold?" Robert took

her in his arms and walked toward the bedroom, laying Kathy on the bed

saying: "We've got fourteen minutes to kill. What do you suggest."

Kathy just smiled as they both began

to undress.

Kathy had the most beautiful body. As she undressed, Robert took

a deep breath and tried to remain calm.

They began by touching with unquenchable tenderness. With each

kiss, they became more and more as one. At the allotted

hour, they made love. It was more than either of them had expected~

and if they both should have a wish, it would be for this time

to halt with them together forever.

The whole world was making love with the greatest of expression

Robert and Kathy finally climaxed, and at that instant,

a series of extremely loud sonic booms travelled around the

world. Following that, the sky was filled with the illuminating lights of the prism. It was seen worldwide in daylight and

in darkness. It lasted for hours.

Robert looked at Kathy and said: "We have to get out of here

before we're discovered. Are you packed?"

"Yes"

"Then let's get dressed and go."

At this time, Dr. Neely was sealed in an oxygen supplied room

along with several other distinguished scientists. He

had spent the past two days avoiding questions about the information he had provided to the world. He would only say that the information had arrived from a top secret source-which insisted upon

anonymity.

At 10:13 PM central time, there was the sonic booms. The scientist, along with the rest of the world, were severely frightened. American and Russian nuclear missile defenses went on red alert. When the colors appeared in the sky, there was

a universal relief and a great sense of excitement. The NASA scientists were not satisfied until the oxygen count began

to climb. At that time, they all cheered and went to Dr. Neely to congratulate him on such a brave and daring announcement. Soon, the entire world would hail Dr. Neely.

There were many children conceived on that night and quite a few

new romances were to begin.
