“How the hell do you know the FBI?” Hal’s harsh voice barked the question Ellie automatically cringed.
I could tell my friend was starting to get slightly overwhelmed with the men in the room. Eleanor was willing to accept Marcell. Including all of the morally conflicting baggage that came with him.
It didn’t surprise me that Ellie had accepted him however with no judgement. Ellie was the most objective person I had ever met. She was able to see everyone just as humans and not for the trauma, or pain they carried with them.
“Eleanor’s line of work comes with some pretty fancy perks,” I spoke up for my friend.
“I don’t want you two to do anything that would put your jobs at risk.” Marcell’s concern for us was heartwarming. Even more so that his concern stretched beyond me and extended to Ellie.
“It’ll have to be done sensitively—”
“What do you mean by that?” Marcell interrupted Ellie.
