Riley’s POV
Theo signs Boris for us to leave as soon as he gets in the car.
“Riley, I'm sorry...” he starts to say as he takes my hand. His green eyes are locked on my face.
His fingers intertwine tightly with mine as he pulls me against his body to embrace me.
But before he does, the ringing of my phone echoes in the enclosed space of the car. A particular ring that I recognize immediately.
“Wait,” I say to Theo as I pull away from him.
Immediately, grab my cell phone and stare at the incoming message. My heart skips a beat.
“If it's him again,” Theo starts to say in annoyance. “I swear I'll go and smash his face in‒”
“It's not my father,” I declare. “It's Cameron.”
Theo stands with his mouth open in an almost funny expression. He reacts immediately and looks at the cell phone.
“What does it say?”
“He wants to see me,” I reply, reading the message. “He says he's in New York and decided to take a ‘getaway’.”
