Amullette’s POV
The last note she’d received told her that her uncle would bring her from isolation to speak with her officially and in person once again. So, there she waited for him as she watched the Earth’s sun and remembered her life. As the door to the small holding room opened, she smiled at her aunt and uncle.
“Your trial has been scheduled,” her uncle said out loud as they took the two seats across from her.
“Amullette, we need your help,” Natasha’s voice came to her. “There is a little girl, Mikaya. She is being brought to the Elders in a few hours. She could be very important to the outcome of the war between the rebellion and the Universal.”
“When is the trial?” Amullette asked out loud. She wondered to herself what they wanted her to do with the little girl.
“In three months,” her uncle said out loud.
“We need you to keep her safe, protect her. When the time comes you will have to escape with her,” Natasha’s voice instructed.
