Chapter 50: Koran's Secret

Koran’s POV:

For the rest of the evening, Kroan experienced a chatty Mikaya and a withdrawn Amullette. He didn’t know what had happened but he was determined to fix it.

For two days he endured the silent treatment, wondering if she just needed time to tell him what was on her mind. He tried to reach out and touch her several times and she pulled away. He could feel himself loosing her. He didn’t know what to do. As they lay in bed one night, Kroan finally suggested that they might need to go on a vacation.

“I can’t go anywhere, Kroan,” Amullette said.

Kroan shook his head. “It’s a holo-tech room. You can’t go anywhere. But, anywhere can come to you.”

He reached out to her and was surprised that she allowed him to tuck her against him.

“What about Mikaya?” she asked.

“We’ll change it after I take her to school,” he said. “We’ll change it back when she comes back.”

“I don’t know,” Amullette whispered.
