Amullette’s POV
When the lunch came to a conclusion Dr. Meadow suggested pairing off and taking a leisurely boat ride around the environment. Avia quickly grabbed Amullette’s hand and claimed her as a partner much to the dismay of several others.
They women set adrift in the river at one-minute intervals. Amullette and Avia waited until last. As they set adrift Avia took the opportunity to lay down and soak up the holo-tech sun.
“This is lovely. Thank you so much for inviting me,” Avia said. “I am actually used to living very meagerly so the prison isn’t that bad. It’s all about your state of mind. Isn’t it?”
“Partially,” Amullette agreed.
Avia looked up at her.
“Mental power can only get you so far when you are imprisoned with little or no hope of freedom. Even the strongest minds have to accept reality,” Amullette said.
“Did you accept it?” Avia sat up. Her indescribable beauty confronted Amullette.
“For a long time I tried to fight it. But, eventually I did.”
