“Then run with us. Whatever happens, we are in this together.”
“I love that you feel that way,” he said sadly.
“Kroan…” Amullette felt her heart plunge. “It’s not fair.”
“No, but it is the right thing to do, saving Mikaya, and the baby, and you. I couldn’t live in a universe without you.”
Kroan took her hand and twisted her wedding ring.
“When they are near your ring will glow bright blue. So will mine, and so will Mikaya’s pendant.” Kroan explained. “In the fray, it will be impossible to tell who is on our side, but anyone with the blue glow is a friend. It won’t be obvious but when they see your ring glow they will show you theirs in response.”
“Kroan?” Amullette breathed.
“The rebellion did not die with your father. It’s stronger now than it has ever been. If I survived for any reason at all it was to keep it going.”
“This is how you, Daven, and Devestion stay in touch... Through the rebellion.” Amullette realized.
