When she woke again she made her way to the bathroom. She was surprised at how energetic she felt after so many months of feeling sluggish and heavy. She turned the water on and peeled her clothes off. As she stepped in she remembered the first time Kroan had joined her in the shower. She closed her eyes as she stood under the water and waited to feel his presence with her. If he were a spirit, she should be able to feel him, she thought.
As time past and no ghostly arms reached out to her, the aloneness overwhelmed her. She allowed herself to cry and sob with the full force of the frustration that she felt. She washed her body clean of the birth, and in her mind everything from Earth. She looked at her hand that still wore her wedding ring. That ring and her son were all she had left of him. She was taken over by a hollow, empty and lonely feeling. She stepped from the shower and wrapped herself in a towel.
