I cried out and held onto the arms that were around me as the pain in my toes made it hard for me to stand.
“My toes are…” I froze as I looked at the person who had come quickly to my aid.
His golden eyes took me in as the look of exasperation fell plainly across his face. Forgetting the pain in my foot, I shoved him away and attempted to limp from the center of the pond to the edged. After two steps, a fire in my toes brought tears to my eyes and I stopped, not sure what to do as I saw Ty running through the water towards me with Ryan at her side.
I was mortified, but before I could say or do anything else, Dev swept me in his arms and carried me to the side of the pond. I held onto him as the pain began to subside slightly and watched as the security guards hiding in the woods came forward. I knew they would not stand by once they realized I was hurt.
