"There you go. Omelet rice with tomato sauce made by one and only chef Rick, and of course, the chocolate ice cream." Rick placed the plates on the table. "Coffee after the food?"
"Yes, chef Rick." Summer gave him a wide grin back before bringing her plate closer to her. "Woah, this smells so damn good!"
"It will taste even better, Miss Summer. So much that you will never be able to forget the supreme taste of it." Rick stood there, with a proud look on his face. It was written all over his face that he wanted to make Summer feel defeated, and get praised by her.
"Now now, Summer, have a bite of it, and let the kid have what he wants," Summer spoke up and took a huge spoonful of the food. And soon, she moaned out. "Uwah, this is so good! Yve, that boy got talent!"
"Heh, thank you for the opinion, Miss," Rick felt even prouder by the reaction he got, it almost seemed like his nose went long because of that. "Then enjoy your food."
"Yes," Yvette decided to finish the ice cream first, as the food was still too hot and the ice cream might melt sooner than the food gets cold. "So, now the special blend of ours is here as well. Would you like to tell me the good news now?"
"Uh.. hum yes yes," Summer's voice sounded muffled as she had food stuffed in it. She chewed those quickly, and with a glass of water, gulped it down. "Yes, so… you remember the audition I had a few days ago?"
"Yeah?"
"That was for a part time thing, like a seasonal gig. I was supposed to do it for the summer collection of 'Midnight Glam'. But guess what, gurl! They liked me so much they offered me to join them as their official model and face of the brand!"
"Wait What! That's really good news, oh my God!" Yvette's face lit up in excitement for her friend, but immediately something clicked to her, and her expression changed. "Hang on, for which one you said?"
"The 'Midnight Glam', honey. Isn't that so great? I have been waiting for this day for so long, gosh. Can't believe this is real!" Summer is someone with a lot of words, but she gets even more chatty and excited when something good happens to her, or anyone she knows and likes.
"Yeah… it is indeed unbelievable." She didn't hear wrong after all. It was true that Summer achieved the best for herself. But to think she would end up somewhere Yvette is closely related to right now, was so surreal she couldn't believe the irony for a while there. Now she was more scared of telling Summer about her marriage to Summer's very boss.
"But not that I can always avoid this, right?" Yvette felt her chest tightening up in fear. In this lonely world of hers, she only got Summer by her side, as someone who knows her, understands her, and supports her whenever she is right, and helps her to get out of things whenever it is wrong. If she ends up losing such a friend, Yvette doesn't know how she can ever get over this.
"Summer. I have something to tell you." Yvette took a few long breaths, mustering up the courage. She realized she can't avoid this longer even if she is scared. Because sooner or later, Summer has to know.
"Oh yeah! You mentioned about letting me know about something too! What is it?"
"I…," Yvette felt like her throat might get choked up soon. She felt so nervous that her voice started to become shaky. But she ended up saying that anyway.
"I got married to Irvyn Collins."

"So, all these happened to you within 2 days, and you didn't tell me even once?" Summer had her eyes on Yvette the whole time while she was saying every event that was like a rollercoaster ride for her. And after that, Summer was silent for an awfully long time, which wasn't something she does ever as that isn't in her nature. And Yvette had her head hung down since then, not daring to look at her friend, or the possible disgust or disappointment she might see in her eyes. "All these days… you didn't tell this to me, to anyone else?"
"I'm really sorry, Summer. I was… scared that you might be…"
"How the hell you endured all these all alone? How hard it might have been for you, Yvette?"
Yvette started apologizing to Summer, after hearing the dejected voice she was speaking in. but the sudden interruption made by Summer had her stupefied. That wasn't the reaction she was hoping for from her. Why did Summer sound like she was sad for her, instead of getting mad?
Yvette finally looked up at Summer, who had a really complicated look on her eyes, which was hard to read for her. Yvette was confused if she was being sarcastic or just acting like the way she didn't think she would be.
"S-Summer?" Yvette tried to call out to her, seeing her blankly staring at her. But instead of getting a reply out of her, she grabbed her by her arm.
"Let's get out of here," Summer said only those words, while pulling her up from the chair. She fished out a few dollar bills and put those on the table. And without even letting Yvette talk any further ahead, she dragged her out of the cafe.
And only after they were really far away from the cafe, and ended up coming into the campus area, did she let Yvette's hand go.
"Summer what happened-"
Before Yvette could even finish her words, she was pulled into a hug, and soon she heard Summer weeping while pressing her face against the shoulder. "How hard it must have been for you? I am so sorry, you didn't have anyone to rely on, and you had to face this."
This was more than enough to trigger all those suppressed emotions she had in her, and soon Yvette teared up by those unexpected words. She wanted to say something, anything, but instead of words, a suppressed cry came out, and that was all it took to her bursting into tears, with loud cries. Loud enough to have people walking around in that area to look back at those crying mess, but not yet loud enough to end all those pains in her.
