The moment her feet landed on solid ground, Rose could only sigh out in relief. This wa not how she had expected to spend her apocalypse days if she had ever dreamed of it in the first place.
But stil, she could not help but think that things could actually pan out well for her. This person with her, the one who had come for her after he left her was the one shot ticket to her safety.
Or to his doom or whatever. For now, she was to stick with him.
The moment his body jumped to the escalator, by the arms, she panicked.
She was not to be left alone. She promptly jumped in, holding on as they ran down the steps. Or at least attempted to run down the steps if the upcoming zombies didn't present an issues to her.
He was safe on the bar where he was but then and then, he swung his iron rod, knocking down many of the zombies that came rushing. They finally got down and she was able to breath a breathe of fresh air.
Except that just then, she saw him panic.
Or at least, his facial muscles twitched in such a way that told her at one glance what she did not want to hear. That there's was trouble.
"Are you fine?" She asked with widened eyes.
Down on the first floor, the gorcery stop was behind the evaluator. However being that it was the grocery stalls, There was bound to be slot od people in there.
This meant that more zombies were there. Even the security men a the posts were not stopped. And to make matters worse, the other fallen zombies on the escalator were already picking their way towards them. The only breath of fresh air in everything was tht the initial burst of energy the zombies had was gone.
They were back to their slow movement however that did not mean that the zombies were no more deadly. In fact, she could not help but yhink there was a grey area when it came to zombies.
All they knew was to eat and she would damned if she was the one they ate.
"We need to go." She said, turning around. "It's a bad idea." She gasped out.
Abbey groaned out as he heaved.
Even in his autopilot mode, his body was not totally invincible. At least, not to the brunt of the autopilot taking its toll on him.
His limbs had been stressed to the limits. They felt like stretched rubber. His elbows and knee gaps shook with exhaustion, the passing second humming to him about shutting down.
He grunted now, baring out his teeth as he tried to maintain his grip on reality. Coming down from the shop was a bad idea.
Now, they were honed in between the slowly gathering crowd of the zombies and the ones already milling down from the escalator.
For a brief moment, everything seemed to still for a while. It gave abbey a second to turn around and observe his surroundings while staggeringly
The next moment, several footsteps exploded in uniform fashion. The zombies suddenly charging towards him.
'Shut! No!' Abbey groaned mentally. Looking at the time, he had wasted some more seconds when he got down from the escalator.
"We are not going to make it." The girl called out, shaking on the spotZ
But he was not going to agree with it.
'System, I need some more time.' Abbey chanted mentally.
His body shook on the spot, his vision blurring out.
DING!
[Time remaining: 23 seconds.]
'More time.. more time.'
DING!
[time. Remaining; 15 seconds]
His heart beat even faster than the adrenaline induced state he was. In his moment, he heaved out, looking around him for the umpteenth time. It felt as though the zombies were slow even in their charge but at the same time, they were all that he saw.
And worse, the systems as refusing to answer it. In fact, he could swear that the system was even adding more danger to him by reducing the time of the autopilot. It wanted him to lose consciousness when surrounded by zombies.
'I refuse!' With sweat balls over him, he reached for her hand and gripped it hard.
One look at her, he nodded, feeling a bit of control seeping back within his hand. They only had seconds left tk live. And he would be damned if he died in a horde of zombies. If there were going to fight, then they would fight their way out rather than for him to become immobile food canon fodder to the zombies and the attendant girl.
Because eventually, a queen attacked by so many Pawns was bound to fall even if she was all that powerful.
The girl nodded at him, noting the direction of his eyes. She shook her head hurriedly, allowing herself get dragged by Abbey as he ran forward.
However the next minute, his grip loosened out.
One zombie dived in to jim, running with a spear. He side stepped, quickly, the movement evoking a scram of fear from her.
However, with the grace of a predator, he grabbed the zombie by the curve of his armpit and then speared the rod into the back.
Abbey ducked then, evading another jumping zombie who came with eager dentition. He rolled to the ground, evading another one and then kicked off one from him.
However there and then, his eyss closed, leaving him vulnerable as several zombies closed in on him. Leaping down to bite into his skin.
"No!" Rose screamed out.
For some strange reasons, the zombies were avoiding her, focusing on Abbey.
"No, don't die. Don't die. Master, please…"
"Aaghhhhh!" Abbey roared out.
His voice erupting like a old and broken engine. The next second, all of the zombies that had closed in on him forcefully ejected into the air. Even as Abbey shot upwards, his arms throwing off those that clung to him.
"What the fuck?" Rose gasped, seeing him rise like some world renowned wrestler in the ring.
And even more, a little stream of energy began to phase into his body. Energy that burnt off the zombies that came into close contact, shriveling their skin.
"You coming or not?" Abbey gaped, looking backwards.
The gorcery stall was just some steps ahead. And the zombies, more kept on running.
