Caring and pampering

" Please come and visit again ", a cheerful row of maids saluted them, and Xue happily waved back. " Let's go, there's still a place I want to take you ", Cheng Feng opened the car door, then he hopped in too. " Okay ", Xue nodded. He could tell she was in a good mood, she was beaming with happiness. It seemed like she really liked cats, then a sudden thought disturbed him. What if she liked them more than him ? Should he prepare plans in advance ? 

While those thoughts were roaming in his brain, he didn't lose his attention while driving. 

Xue hummed happily, she always did that automatically when she was happy. 

" Here we are ", the car stopped in front of a pastry shop. 

As the doors were opened, the staff greeted them, " Good evening sir, here's the specialities of today, this way please ", a server politely guided them. " Thank you ", Cheng Feng replied. From their interaction, it could be seen that he was a regular here.

A full row of tables displaying countless pastries were shown. It was like a jewelery's showroom. 

" This is where I buy the desserts, you looked at them. You can pick whatever you like ", Cheng Feng encouraged his wife, who had her eyes glowing. He betted that she would be drooling too, if they weren't in public. He knew that her self control was quite good. 

Xue nodded, as she was a kid who got the permission from her parents, she glanced at those colorful puffs of creams, tarts and cakes. It was a feast for both her eyes and stomach. 

An ice cream stick caught her eyes, " Oh, this one. It's milk ice cream covered with white chocolate with sour frizzy raspberries . It has a peculiar taste, since the sourness matches well with the sweetness of the chocolate ". The waiter waved his hand and a small tray was delivered here, " Here's a sample to try it ". Cheng Feng picked up one, biting in first, Xue didn't hesitate a lot, following his actions. The outer layer was crunchy, but not too thick, it easily broke after she bit. As she chewed, small pieces of raspberry popped in her mouth, like frizzy candies, while the ice cream had a light vanilla taste. It was delicious, Xue nodded her head, approving this combo. Since it passed her wife's tastebud, he noted it down, but he couldn't exaggerate too much. It was ice cream, it would be too bad for her stomach, since it was a cold food. Especially when the winter was close. 

The staff smiled, while looking at the couple who was tasting and picking out sweets. Cheng Feng was a regular and they finally got to know the mysterious lucky girl. It turned out that they were married, the matching ring gave out the clue, as an observant worker pointed that out. 

" No wonder he's so willing to pamper his wife, look at her ! She's so beautiful ! ", all the girls were chatting behind the counter. It was nice to look at beautiful couples and daydream about it. 

After a long session, they finally left and were ready to get home. On the way back, Xue fell asleep, maybe today's activities took a toll on her body. Cheng Feng covered her with a blanket, carefully tucking it down the safety belt, so it wouldn't fall off. He slowed down the car too, so it wouldn't wake her up. On the passenger seats, a few packers were placed there, also secured with the belt. 

When they reached home, assistant Lu was the first to meet them, as he literally rushed out, as he was ready to report, he zipped his mouth, seeing the deadly glare from his master. He didn't see that Xue was asleep, so he stepped back and warned the rest of the servants. 

Cheng Feng placed his wife as slowly as possible on the bed, then he took off her shoes and outer clothing. The servant placed down the basin filled with warm water and a few clean towels and left. He picked it up and washed her face, hands and feets. Then he closed the door, walking towards his office. 

" Oh, I'm sorry about before ", Sheng Ming sarcastically said, he was way more happy to not be reminded of his single status everyday. Also he felt that his master became even more annoying after he got married. " Cut it. What's the matter ? ", Cheng Feng stopped him, he didn't have time to waste. His aide cleared his throat and resumed the current situation. 

From the accident, a lot of chained events happened. ANd they weren't good ones for the Li family. Mrs. Zhang's bad mood was confirming the fact. A lot of cases were dug up again, as the closed ones were being investigated again. This was the reason for their panic and anxiety, as the financial side was clearly suffering from those blows. They were also trying to bribe some higher ups, in order to stop the investigations. Some would give in, some wouldn't or both. 

The tricky part was that the figures on the authority weren't some random people with no background. So it was not easy to threaten them or buy them. Either you offered an equal deal or just lay low. Though the Li was powerful, it wasn't the only one in the city, they weren't the main force. There was an unspoken rule, when some families tied their offspring together, the married one couldn't borrow the influence from their family. This was a tacit understanding, in order to stabilize the power struggling. And his stepmother didn't follow this advice, so some actions would have their consequences too. 

Cheng Feng coldly glanced at the reports, like a hunter slowly baiting his prey, before dealing the last blow. His pupils were reading all those numbers, each string of them, meant the damage caused by his actions. The more the better, he would cut the roots, in order to kill the bud.

His revenge already started, and no one would stop him, not anymore.
