Hayashi turned in the direction of the voice noticing a group of men, some of them had cloaks that covered parts of their body others had an orange prison jumpsuit Hayashi pulled back his [Ronin] slingshot and took aim.
"Are you friend or foe?" Hayashi asked calmly
"No no kid, we ain't your enemies..that is only if you make us!" The prisoners pulled out various guns, and to their surprise, the grey-haired boy stayed un-faltered.
"Threatening us, a few high schoolers with guns. What do you want?" his calm expression was slowly turning into a scowl.
"There are only a few things we want!" A smaller man with many scars talked seeming to be their leader
"We want your money!" A larger bearded man smiled
"Women!" a thin man with tattoos grinned
"Food!" a fat man licked his lips
Each prisoner had voiced their desire but Hayashi only smiled, now aiming his slingshot at the smaller man.
"Sorry to disappoint you but money doesn't work anymore in the apocalypse." He spoke calmly but his presence was slowly becoming more and more threatening, scaring all of them just by gazing at them alone.
"As for women and food, we don't have that either, and if we did, I still wouldn't have given you anything so let's call it quits and go our seperate ways." Hayashi lowered his slingshot and directed his combat team by making a slight head movement. at
"Hold it!" one of the prisoners pointed a pistol at them
"No, why don't you...drop it!" Hayashi turned around and aimed his slingshot. "[Eye of the Hunter][Strong Shot]!" Hayashi fired at the Prisoner who pointed his gun at them. "RUN! SCATTER! We'll meet back up at [Ground Zero]!" Hayashi yelled to his group getting them to run from the fear of being done in by prisoners with firearms and Hayashi stalling enough time to get far enough to get to safety.
"Shouldn't have done that..." The prisoner tried to fire his gun only to find that the gun was broken with shards of a small glass. "EH!?"
"Heh! I'm not that easy!" Hayashi rushed in completely unarmed as the remaining prisoners tried to fight him off with their guns.
"Those guns of yours are really annoying...Let me help you get rid of them!" Hayashi fired more buster rounds at the barrels of their guns as they kept firing, hitting nearby walls, windows, and other structures.
"Keep firing and run out of ammo...it won't be long, unfortunately, I won't have the pleasure of ripping you to shreds. They will." Hayashi used [Eye of the Hunter]and [Strong Shot] again anytime he found a gap in time he was able to fire back, although less threatening to the prisoners, they were still wary and a bit uncertain that his slingshot does more damage then they can anticipate until he misfires hitting a stop sign making a small hole in it from the sheer force of the
"I don't want to be eaten, on top of that my own combat power isn't enough to deal with those scumbags..." he smirked as his eyes had a red glow and bloodlust began to leak from his thoughts. "At least not at the same time! The moment they're alone..it'll become a different story!" Hayashi started running towards the school made into a base on his way he saw a few of his combat team members and ran with them.
"Come on guys you need to get out of here and make it back and talk to Nishiwaka-Nim it is a full-on war!" Hayashi looked behind him as there was no one behind them as they got out from the exit of the town and managed to get across the bridge and get near the school getting the odd feeling he was being watched.
"Full-on war might be an understatement. It'll be a massacre!" Hayashi said to his injured straggler teammates as he got them across the bridge and through the gate. "{we need to tell this to the student council president...I'm not sending my team out there again, not with those bastards still roaming around...}" Hayashi thought to himself. {I'm nearly there...Almost..there...} The side effect of using the skills the system gave him were now taking their toll as he drifted in and out of conscience and collapsed on the ground from exhaustion in front of the school, in front of all the students.
"Someone! get them on their feet! Nurse them back to health! Come on people!" Akari called out, hearing this a red-haired male picked Hayashi up and his three other teammates who were rescued by him.
"Akari...san.." He said before passing out
"Yeah...It's me..you've done your part...rest up." She said, a look in her eyes showed sadness as she saw her four fellow students getting picked up who had scratches and wounds of all sorts.
Hayashi wakes up in the infirmary grasping what happened pretty quickly as he put a hand to his head.
"...I'm going to get out of here. Ow... what the.?" Hayashi looked down to see he was in shorts and his abdomen was covered in bandages.
"Bandages...? did I get shot?" He touched his stomach. "Ouch.." He winced in pain. "I'll take that as a yes..." Hayashi sighed as he walks out and falls, pushing himself into a wall and using the wall as a crutch to see what was going on.
"Hey...He's up.." someone whispered
"He got shot at I heard..." the other person responded before someone ran and tried to hold him up.
"Hey, you should be in bed! What are you doing?" Saito looked at him blushing as she used herself as his crutch.
"N-No way...I need to tell her not to send my team out there again...These ki-" Hayashi realized he was once again 16 years old.
"My team can't go out there...we're not equipped to kill...we don't have the mindset to do so.."
"E-even so...You need to rest..."
"No! Take me to Akari now!" he growled scaring her a little.
"..." she begins to tear up.
"Sorry...I... I can't afford casualties...I need to tell her the entire story then I'm leaving this place..." he stated, his hair covering his eyes hearing the whispers all around him.
"I-It's alright..." she slowly escorted him to her as they gently opened the door as Akari was finishing a discussion with two males.
"Do you two need something?" Akari looked terrible, her eyes were swollen and red and her skin had become pale.
"Miss Baisho.."
"No, I'm alright now what do you need.." she held her head putting her hair from behind.
"Don't send my team back out there." he talked directly to her.
"I never planned on it." She nodded. "I won't be sending your team out there until we're positive you won't be interfered with."
"Thank you..and when I recover I'll go out there and get those bastards..."
"No need."
"what do you mean?"
"Your sensei stormed out in a rage to hunt them down-"
"And you didn't stop him!?"
"He's a grown man. What did you expect me to do? fight him?"
"Aren't you the one who said find as many survivors as possible and bring them here?"
"I did say so, but did I say I could stop them from leaving? last I remember I didn't, I did what I could to convince him but he had none of it."
"Damn it..." Hayashi looked down feeling defeated looking down at his wound as it had started bleeding now.
"There...now we've done what you wanted to do, now let's get you back to your dorm so you can recover ok?" Saito pulls Hayashi away
"..." He stays quiet, looking at the pink-haired girl.
"I know it hurts, all we can do is hope he comes back safe.."
Hayashi nods. "I...Thank you." He said watching from a window as he sees the sunset while being put on to a bed in the infirmary.
"Wake up during the night...I've gotta sleep early." Hayashi nods to himself as he does that.
-2 HOURS LATER-
Hayashi woke up undoing his bandages and grabbing some clothes and putting them on, looking at his injury noticing the bleeding has stopped, and looking at his stat board."Show me my stats"
"PING!" the stat board shows up:
Name: Hayashi Tetsu
Profession: The Hunter/Munionist
LVL:10
STR:21(-9)
DEF:14(-6)
INT:19
DEX:30 (-4)
AGI:24(-3)
VIT:15(-2)
"Looks like not being in my best shape affects my stats...since I'm clearly still injured..." Hayashi stated to himself marking it as a rule of the system.
"I'm out of here..." Hayashi found some bandages in the infirmary and wrapped them around his bullet wound and pulled them tight before tying them and putting on a shirt and a hoodie.
"I need my bag...I want to conserve my resources if possible..." Hayashi knew exactly where his bag would be.
"[Eye of the Hunter]" Hayashi's eyes changed being able to see the heat signature of multiple people, as well as an energy signature from his bookbag, it was the system's energy he used to create his modified marbles as he snuck into the principal's office and took the bag, noticing Akari there, snoring.
"Y-you will not leave..." She mumbled in her sleep startling him
"Even asleep you are a scary woman," he said while putting on his bag seeing as it served as his backup ammo storage to draw on should he need to, zipping it up and leaving the room.
"Next...It's time to blow this popsicle stand..be glad I left you all some gifts." Hayashi walks out the front entrance, leaving logs of wood, wood planks, an assortment of metal ores, and a few broken weapons leaving them in a bundle with a note before leaving.
"Smooth sailing from here." Hayashi left easily but not before seeing a familiar silhouette.
"Where do you think you're going?" The silhouette talked to Hayashi but he ignored it and kept walking.
"Oi, don't disrespect your teacher kid. He might be less likely to call you his student if you simply walk away." The silhouette is mentioned in a laid-back and sarcastic tone making him stop dead in his tracks.
"..." Hayashi rushed at the silhouette even while injured, he was still hesitant but as he came closer it seemed to be able to make out his face.
"Dan?" he stopped midway through his punch
"That's sensei to you bub" He smiled. "What? did you believe I died?"
"If you want the truth, yes"
"Well I'm right here in flesh and blood"
"How?"
"They never showed their faces, I never saw them, the place was desolate."
"You're kidding me right?"
"Not in the slightest. So where were you planning to go?"
"Back to the town. {What the-? Why am I answering to him?}"
"For?"
"Killing Zombies. There's none even near the school, and I feel like relieving my stress. I'll be back soon."
Hayashi tried to leave once again, turning around and walking away, but suddenly hears another set of feet behind him.
"...You're gonna follow me, aren't you?"
"Yep, and there's nothing you can do about it either." He shrugged at him, looking smug as all hell
"Fine, but don't lag behind" Hayashi accepted the company
"You don't know me!" he said as he trekked with Hayashi into the city, it was mostly cleared out but there were a few zombies as Dan put his hand out to stop Hayashi from going any further putting his hands in his pockets and pulling them out to reveal brass knuckles on his hand.
"I why- how?" Hayashi seemed shocked for someone who practices such intense martial arts, using brass knuckles.
"Social distancing. I don't want to be infected" He punched a zombie's head off, ever so casually.
"Now let me show you some moves, when you recover I expect you to be able to do these moves too."
"Damn teachable moments." Hayashi sighs his teacher getting into his stance and punching zombies using different combos from when they were sparing, making the zombies look weak and pitiful as all their heads either came off with one punch or simply exploded with the same punches
"Now take some notes. These zombies are like sandbags. everywhere you hit has an effect!" He avoids a zombie trying to bite him then strikes it in the stomach with a kick before rushing in and giving it another punch to the stomach making it fall on its back before he went over to it.
"I hope I can ease your suffering. Rest in peace." He said to the zombie before crushing what was left of its skull.
"[Harvest]" The zombie bodies turned to dust as Hayashi gained resources in his inventory and proficiency.
"Nifty trick you got there."
"Thanks, it's noble of you, wanting to ease the suffering of the undead"
" Nothing noble about it, I just don't want someone to suffer more than they need to."
"Sounds pretty noble to me." He commented sarcastically
"Shut it and start punching zombies." he looked at him annoyed
"Yes sir-" He said sarcastically as he started punching zombies watching his proficiency rise in [Unarmed]and [Unarmed-Dragon God Fist Technique]
"We'll be punching Zombies all night until we get somewhere!" Dan said as he punched another zombie in the face defeating it instantly.
"Then let us get to the scrap yard as soon as we can, it's where we couldn't get to last time because you know."
"You feel different from your team..."
"What do you mean?"
"Your teammates were obviously affected but you act like this was a casual Tuesday for you"
"In the zombie apocalypse, I guess that's exactly what is-"
"Even making jokes now?" Dan said rolling his eyes seeing a group of zombies.
"We can take this place...and it won't even be difficult," Dan said as he walked up to the group and decimated them effortlessly.
"Coast is clear, let's go-" Dan looked at a car as it still seemed to be recently rusted walking over to it and looking at the interior.
"This car can still be used...it's one of the best out there...A muscle car..." He said excitedly. "But no key...Pass some scrap metal, I'm hotwiring the car."
