Carnations

A few days later in Moirai, Colt was sitting behind the cash register grinning when Cadmus plodded in, coffee laced with sugar and cream in hand.

Cadmus paused in his tracks upon seeing his expression, slightly unnerved, and then continued his trek to the stool in front of the counter. "Why good morning, and how are you on this sunny day?" Colt greeted before he could ask him why he was grinning like that, which was quite creepy in all seriousness.

"I'm... good, I guess?"

"Fantastic, fantastic." Colt grinned some more. "So, I had an interesting experience yesterday."

"Oh? Let me guess. Hershey yelling at you for running out of ginger bread? Hate to break it to you, man. But I was there for that."

"No, no. Not that at all." Colt bent over to dig something. "My older cousin is getting married, you see, and so like the good guy I am, I was helping her look through wedding magazines when I found this."
