Festivity

"I kept hurting my fingers, and I didn't get enough of the right color, and it was taking forever." Blair gestured to the abomination in Cadmus's hands. "And so, I couldn't start a new one."

"You didn't have to do any of that."

He ran a thumb over the soft fabric. It's rare for him to receive handmade presents.

"Well, you're always whining about night practice being cold, and this Valedictorian thing is a big deal, so I wanted it to be special."

He distantly remembered little Blair bribing him years ago, claiming special people should get special gifts. At the memory, Cadmus felt his chest swelling with so many emotions.

"It's not bad," Cadmus said.

"It's ugly," Blair deadpanned.

"A little." A genuine smile spread across his face. "But I don't hate it."
