Heiress

Blair made a small squeal of surprise, and elation blossomed in Cadmus's heart.

"That's so unfair," she grumbled quietly against his chest. He raised his hand and started stroking her hair. But he suddenly felt her fingers lace through his. 'Oh no, my sweaty palms!'

They were now holding hands and cuddling, their intensely close proximity genuinely making Cadmus a bit lightheaded. Absentmindedly, he started rubbing little circles on her hand, which he'd expected to be soft and smooth, but to his surprise, were actually calloused. Blair was quiet for a moment and then mumbled, "Can you look at me for a sec?"

"Huh? Sure."

Cadmus looked down at Blair. Blair looked up at Cadmus.
