Childhood

"Your dad's really nice," Blair told Cadmus as she watched Halstead walk away. "He truly cares about you. He seems so happy to spend time with you."

"I guess, but because of that kindness of his, he's been miserable all his life," Cadmus said just loud enough for Blair to hear. "The only reason why Mother married him was because it was what my grandparents wanted. I don't think she ever really loves him. I swear Mother doesn't deserve any kindness from anyone. I don't know what on earth I'm gonna do when I see her again."

He let out a long sigh as they looked around the mansion together. "My mother always believed she had to raise me as the perfect son. That's what she pressured Father to do since I was little. My mother put up with him and their loveless marriage just so she could have him turn me into a useful tool."
