As the pressure exuded from the mana around Astrid rose and rose, little droplets of sweat fell down onto the grey-ashy road as her blond hair flew up, fluttering lightly due to the accumulating might that was put in to conjure the offensive spell.
A few seconds later, after she felt that she had charged the spell enough, she pointed her finger in the direction of the green sea of creatures.
"The sharpest gale, the softest of winds, an embodiment of nature's wrath. I summon thee, Tempest!"
After finishing the chant, a tempest of wind appeared in front of Astrid as she willed it to crash into the horde of zombies.
Travelling along with the tempest as it careened forward, the grey ash and large pieces of rubble rose up and joined the attack as they formed a swirling hurricane of mass destruction.
As the offensive spell cast by Astrid rammed into the zombies with great speed, it mutilated tens of them in an instant as it diced their bodies into small pieces of flesh and gore.
The tempest gave the large pieces of rubble a boost as they crushed any unfortunate zombie that was in their path as their bodies became macerated into bloody pulps of flesh.
Panting after expending a substantial amount of mana, Astrid took out a mana potion and gulped it down in one go, as her mana pool slowly started to fill up with the mythical energy restoring itself back to maximum capacity.
Metres ahead, Evan, who was now breathing heavily, finished decapitating the last zombie in front of him as he stopped to gain a moment's respite.
'After the attacks of Finn and Astrid destroyed the majority of the horde, there are only about 20 or so zombies left for me and Kang to deal with.'
Inhaling a large breath of air, Evan closed his eyes as he stabilized his body, exhaling a turbid breath of air which formed a cloud of condensation rising from his mouth.
After the 'collision occurred, the temperature of the world varied greatly, especially in the Forbidden wilds where each zone had different conditions.
One zone could have a forest full of lush life, whilst the other could be an acrid desert with extremely high heat.
With the advent of new breakthroughs with the aid of mana, humans were able to artificially control the temperature in each of the three cities, but only in areas of importance, as the cost of running this technology was not small.
So if a person was living in the slums, they would suffer from drastic changes in the weather and, in some cases, lose their life because the unmerciful climate proved too much for their frail and malnourished bodies to handle.
Shaking his head, Evan sighed deeply as every time he began thinking of the human race, he would always look at the negative sides as his disgust toward the sheer greed and selfishness of humans increased.
He was partially glad he viewed everything related to the fellow members of his race negatively as it helped him wake up and mature faster in addition to gifting him the ability to be able to discern the true intentions of those around him.
However, it was very exhausting for him mentally, so much so that he wished to turn back time and return to when he was naïve and full of innocence.
Alas, we cannot change the past, as it forever haunts those who were unable to extricate themselves from the horrors which happened yesteryear.
Heaving another deep sigh, he slapped himself in the face as the grip on his sword tightened, turning his knuckles white as he began moving his body to engage in another bout of fierce murder.

In another part of the Forbidden Wilds, an entourage of people made their way through a mountainous area, as they vigilantly scanned the area surrounding them, protecting their young master in the case of an unexpected ambush.
Walking in the middle of the entourage, this 'young master' had a haughty look plastered on his face as he had his chin permanently raised in the air, looking down on everything in existence.
Looking at the fawning expressions of his servants surrounding him, he inwardly cursed as his loathing for them increased.
'Stupid trash!'
One thing he despised was how weak they were, especially since they knew that as well, but they didn't strive to gain strength with all their hearts.
They were content with just bootlicking him as they had confidence that his family would be able to offer them sufficient protection to keep their lives.
He abhorred those types of people the most, as they had no will to grow stronger and achieve whatever they desired with their own two hands, instead they just lived in submission to complete his every need.
"Young master Vincent, do you want to fight the next battle by yourself, or do you require any assistance?"
"No, I'll do it by myself."
Snorting in contempt, Vincent looked at the servant, who spoke with disdain as if he was an idiot who was braindead.
Although he was haughty and extremely arrogant, placing nothing in his eyes, he still wanted to kill these wretched monsters with his own two hands as he bathed in their blood with relish.
Shaking his head, he paid the servant no heed as he muttered.
"Incorrigible fools."
Gritting his teeth in humiliation and rage, the servant's cheeks turned red in rage after he witnessed the gloating gazes full of ridicule and mockery from the other servants.
'Bastards!' he clenched his fists tightly, avoiding their piercing gazes.
Travelling further, the entourage finally stopped at the bottom of a small mountain as a group of monsters appeared in their vision.
A group of 8 golden apes were standing there ready to scale the mountain to return to the cave they were habituating.
Alas, before they could, a group of pesky humans appeared in their sights as their eyes turned bloodshot with their innate desire, screaming at them to eat the flesh of humans which they hadn't tasted in a long time.
The apes shouted in excitement as they rushed in the direction of the approaching humans.
Turning his head to look at his personal bodyguard, Vincent spoke with an eerie grin on his face, which sent a shiver down the rest of the servants' spines.
"Leave the strongest to me."
"By your will, young master." The bodyguard bowed as he turned to face the monsters, who were unlucky to have come across this young master of his.
Having witnessed their young master battle before, the servants along with the bodyguard gazed at the apes with pity as they almost prayed for them to die a painless death as opposed to what would happen, now that their young master had set his sights on them.
