Date Night: Cyrus POV

I narrowed my eyes at the concept,

"Why the fuck would they shove a bunch of horny teenage shifters into a building? It's stupid. They're asking for someone to get hurt."

Leo simply shrugged. I swear the council was completely hypocritical at times. During the blood moon, everyone will be forced into heat and rut. Any shifter with a mate would be extremely possessive and irritable from the forced sexual frustration. Leo or I would, literally, be liable to kill someone. This was stupid,

"Can't we skip?"

"Nope, my love. They count attendance on that day as 50% of the semester's grade."

"So the whole thing's a test. Keep your shit together all day and you pass."

He simply hummed. He was probably used to it since he grew up going to the schools in this region. Suddenly, a thought came to mind. A question that I was curious about, but also dreaded the answer to. My eyes flicked away from his before meeting his now confused gaze,

"What did you do...before? During the blood moon, I mean."

He blushed slightly before caressing my cheek,

"I usually just, uh...took care of it myself. I wanted to wait for my mate."

I smiled before leaning over and kissing his cheek,

"Thank you..."

He smiled back before pulling me close and kissing my forehead,

"Of course, love."

We must have fallen asleep like that because Leo's ringtone caused my, very comfortable, mate to groan tiredly. He reached towards the nightstand blindly before finally grabbing and answering the phone,

"Hello...what?...Sorry. We fell asleep...Shut up Jackson, not everyone is as horny as you two...Whatever, we're on our way."

He hung up and tossed the phone across the bed before turning his gaze to me. I smiled up at him, blinking the remaining sleep from my eyes,

"Should I be dressing a certain way?"

"You look breathtaking in everything, so it's up to you, love."

I blushed and looked away, softly hitting his chest with the back of my hand. He only chuckled in response as he leaned into a sitting position, pulling me up along with him. I kissed his cheek before sliding out of his embrace and over to our dresser. Sitting cross-legged in front of the structure, I began to pick through the options. The bed creaked slightly as Leo stood up, followed, momentarily, by the door to the bathroom, closing softly. The sound of the shower came soon after. By the time he'd finished, I'd decided on a black button-up with white skinny jeans. Leo came out in only a towel, his hair still slightly damp. Mother Spirit, give me the strength.

I allowed my eyes to rake down his very defined six-pack before grabbing my clothes and heading to the bathroom myself. After closing the door, I had to stop and take a breath, images of my mate's body replaying non-stop. Needless to say, my shower will be very cold. Ice cold. When I finished and got dressed, I messed around in the mirror, trying to comb through my hair. Once I was satisfied, I exited and found my mate on his phone, dressed in dark jeans and a white button-up. He looked so good. How did I luck out with such a mate? As I tossed my towel and clothes in the hamper, he looked up and beamed at me, his gaze exploring my body and taking in my outfit. As he walked towards me, I couldn't help but blush slightly. He kissed my forehead,

"You look gorgeous, baby. You ready to head out?"

I nod and grab my phone from the charger on the desk as we walked out. Leo's hand rested on my waist as we made our way towards his car. As we passed the family room, we were met with the sight of Sarah trying to snuggle up to Josh. Seeing the slut of a blonde still in the packhouse caused my eye to twitch. I leaned into Leo, who had tensed up after the realization that she was still here. He relaxed slightly as we continued walking, but his hold on me tightened. They finally noticed we were there as we reached the last step. Josh greeted us with a smile while the devil spawn tried her best to shoot physical daggers with her gaze. All of which were directed at me. I paid no attention. Wouldn't want the visiting Alpha to return to a headless daughter. This, of course, didn't stop her in the least. We said a quick bye to Josh and headed out the door. We hopped into his Lamborghini and began to head off to...somewhere. I messed around with Leo's fingers absentmindedly,

"Sooo, where are we headed?"

He glanced over quickly before turning his attention back to the road with a smirk,

"A place."

I rolled my eyes while making a 'tsk' sound. This boy is so ridiculous sometimes. His hand tightened around mine before he brought it to his lips,

"I'm just messing with you, baby. We're heading to a restaurant. It's Italian. I remember the way you enjoyed the pasta at the cafe, so I figured you'd enjoy the authentic experience. And, if you're up to it, we could do mini-golf afterwards."

I smiled with excitement at our date. He was so sweet. There was only one question I had as I tilted my head slightly,

"It sounds great but, um, what's a 'mini-golf'?"

His eyes flashed with sadness and anger, but as quickly as it came, it was gone, replaced by his sweet smile as his thumb caressed the back of my hand,

"It's a little hard to explain, but I promise it'll be fun."

I nodded and leaned my head on his shoulder as he continued to drive. We arrived after another forty-five minutes. He parked in the fairly filled parking lot and turned the car off. He got out and jogged over to my side, opening my door and offering his hand. Chivalry is clearly alive and well. After helping me out the car, he wrapped his arm around my waist and guided me to the door. As we walked in, we saw Jax and Fin seated in the waiting area. For once, they weren't tongue deep in each other and waved us over as we entered. We walked over and they got up. Fin nodded towards the hostess station,

"She wouldn't seat us until the entire party was here."

We nodded and walked over with them following close behind. The girl looked up with a bored expression and a fake ass smile,

"Hello, do you have reservations this evening?"

Leo nodded,

"Under the name Leo."

She looked down at the tablet built into the podium she was standing at and, after a few seconds, she nodded. Pulling out what I assumed to be menus from within the podium,

"Follow me, please."

We weaved through the restaurant, walking towards the large wall made of glass in the back. She seated us at a booth that gave us a perfect view out of it, down towards the light of the city further out. I slid in on the left side, Leo following close behind. Jax and Fin slid in across from us. The hostess laid our menus down with faux joy and mumbled that our waiter would be over shortly before leaving without another glance. I rolled my eyes, opening my menu. My breath caught as I glanced at the prices. I thought the cafe was expensive. This place's cheapest plate was three times that. My eyes flickered over to Leo as I tried to figure out a way to not order anything. Before I could form a plan, Leo spoke firmly, but lovingly,

"You will order something, baby."

It was clear I wasn't going to find a way out of this, his tone leaving no room for protest. I sighed and dug my face into the menu. As it heated up, Jax giggled. Asshole. I looked around, trying to find something that appealed to me. My eyes landed on the pasta carbonara, which had similar ingredients to the pasta Leo had eaten at the cafe. I pointed this out to him, asking if this was what he had ordered. He smiled as he confirmed,

"Yeah, that's it, love. You know what you'd like to drink?"

As I looked down to examine the drinks on the menu, a male voice spoke up from the end of the table,

"How are you all doing this evening? My name is James and I'll be your waiter."

The brown-haired male's blue eyes traveled around the table before landing on mine. His smile widened visibly as he winked at me. I blinked in surprise. The fuck? He continued,

"What can I get you to drink?"

Everyone answered, leaving me time to look over the drinks on the menu. I decided on some peach tea as Leo finished and looked towards me. He started to speak, but before he had a chance, our waiter spoke instead,

"And what can I get for you, cutie?"

My eyes flickered momentarily to the flirtatious guy before turning back to my mate. His eyes flashed yellow as he growled lowly. Quickly, his eyes returned to their usual silver before darkening to a steely gray. Saying he was angry would be an understatement, and quite frankly, I had no idea what to do about it. Seeing him jealous was turning me on, but now was not the time. This, cluelessly horny, human had just flirted with an alpha wolf's mate. This could get unintentionally dangerous. My eyes flicked to the guy as I snuggled into Leo's side, his hand instantly wrapping around my waist firmly,

"I don't know. Baby, what should I get?"

Leo kissed my forehead and turned back to the guy, his voice calm,

"I think he'd like a sweet tea, and he and I are ready to order. Are you guys?"

Fin nodded, encouraging Leo to go first,

"I'd like the steak with herbed butter and steamed broccoli while my boyfriend will have the pasta carbonara."

Fin ordered for he and Jax and our waiter nodded,

"I'll be right back with your drinks."

He gave one last glance to me with a smile before walking off. What is with people these days? It's like seeing that you're in a relationship was nothing more than a minor obstacle or a major turn-on. The feeling of lips on my cheek caused me to look towards Leo once again. He was a bit calmer, but still irritated. I cupped his cheek,

"It's okay, our food should be coming out shortly, and then we'll be on our way...unless you want to leave. I don't mind either way. We can eat somewhere else."

Leo closed his eyes and took a breath before placing his hand over mine and pecking my lips,

"No baby, it's okay. I can control myself, and I really want to treat you tonight."

I pressed my forehead to his as the sound of tsking came from across the table. We turned slightly looking at Fin, who looked slightly irritated as well,

"You shouldn't have to control yourself. What he did was out of line and disrespectful and, from the way he acted after taking our orders, I don't think he's done."

Leo growled softly, and I kissed his lips. He leaned into the contact, kissing me back immediately. I moaned quietly before pulling back and pecking his lips once more. I love this possessively jealous side, but unfortunately, the flirty waiter was a human, like most of these patrons. If he ended up shifting or attacking that flirty bastard, we'd draw unwanted attention and hunters could get involved. I needed to keep him calm until we left since he insisted on staying. I laid my head on his shoulder as he squeezed my waist.

Eventually, conversation moved to other things. I laughed softly every once in a while at our amusing friends. A few minutes later, our drinks were placed on the table, surprisingly, by a waitress and not James the flirt. As she placed our drinks, she told us our food should be out in about 10 minutes. At the moment, I was sipping my sweet tea which, by the way, wasn't really that sweet. Leo was rubbing my waist under my shirt while they talked about the winter tournament. I listened with slightly more attention. This tournament was a little intriguing to me. The only downside was that eventually, I'd have to fight against Leo, too. Or so I thought,

"So you gonna enter under a team or singular?"

I looked towards Jax, who had spoken,

"What?"

Jax turned to me, a smile on his face,

"Yeah, the tournament has two sections that run simultaneously. One is for those who enter alone and the other is for teams of up to four people."

I hummed and looked towards Leo questioningly. He met my eyes with a smile, brushing away some hair that had fallen into my face,

"You want to enter together, baby?"

I smiled and nodded. He opened his mouth to speak again and guess who interrupted? Again.

"Steak for the gentleman and pasta carbonara for the blue-eyed beauty."

Leo's hand froze momentarily as he closed his eyes. I caught a glimpse of the pale yellow before his eyelids covered it. His hand continued after he took a breath,

"Look man, stop hitting on my boyfriend. You're making him uncomfortable."

And bringing yourself closer to an early grave. McFlirt looked at me only as he placed the rest of the food on the table,

"Am I, cutie?"

My eyes narrowed as he blatantly disregarded my mate's request,

"Yes. You are."

He shrugged his shoulders, smirking,

"I apologize, cutie. I couldn't stop myself when in front of such a pretty face. I'll do my best to keep myself contained, sweets."

He, luckily for him, walked away after that little statement. I'd wrapped my arms around Leo, pulling him close to me. He was pissed and his fist was clenching and unclenching while his other gripped my side. That guy was unbelievable. After a few moments of me rubbing Leo's chest while kissing his cheek, he kissed the top of my head,

"Thank you, love. I'm okay. Let's eat before the food gets any colder."

I nodded and kissed his cheek,

"Okay."

We ate in a tense silence, between Fin glaring at our waiter anytime he weaved through the room while Leo angrily stabbed at his steak before bringing bites to his lips. Amidst all this, Jax was sending me sympathetic smiles. This is not how I thought dinner would go. Once we'd finished, Leo did the math in his head and threw enough cash on the table to cover everyone. We left immediately, with me tucked into Leo's side with his arm wrapped around my waist securely.

When we reached the car, Leo opened my door and helped me in. He's such a gentleman. After kissing me on the cheek, he closed the door and walked to his side. After a few more moments, we were on our way. Leo's fingers were intertwined with mine as we drove, with the radio playing quietly. We eventually pulled up to a building with spotlights swaying in the sky and a large colorful sign that said 'Rabbit Hole'. I glanced over at Leo with a smirk,

"What exactly are you dragging me into?"

He turned to me with a smirk of his own, turning the car off,

"Nothing, baby. Just a good time."
