CHAPTER 32

Slowly, I opened my eyes, and as the vision focused, I saw an unfamiliar white ceiling.

"Cough."

"Finally he woke up."

Hearing the voice beside me, I turn to find Blake and Tiffany sitting on a couch.

"I'm in the hospital, right?"

"Yes."

"How did I get here?"

"That's a good question. The teachers didn't explain anything to us, they just said that you and Bella were involved in an accident."

"What the hell happened, Jay?" asked Tiffany.

"We will..."

The bedroom door opened, interrupting my rant. It was a policeman who entered.

"You two, can I talk to him alone for a moment?"

Both Blake and Tiffany complied with the officer's request and left the room.

"His name is Jay, right?"

"Yes."

"My name is Jorge, I'm the detective responsible for the case of the four ghosts."

"Four ghosts?"

"I will explain in detail."

In recent months, there have been several cases of abuse of women in the region. It appeared that the victims had seen a demon that traumatized them to the point where some committed suicide.

The only clue investigators got is that the attacks were being carried out by a group of four men. They planned detail by detail, so they wouldn't get caught.

They were so careful that they were never filmed by a single camera.

Hence, four ghosts. Investigators had no idea who they were until yesterday.

"How do you know they were the four ghosts?"

"We found a camera in the corner of the alley. It had several pictures of previous victims."

I did well to place the camera in the corner of the alley and preserve it.

"Thanks to you, we were able to arrest two of them."

The other two I left by the convenience store must have escaped. Now that I think about it, there were no cameras in that store and I don't remember their faces, so I can't help more.

"Boy, how did you end up in that alley?"

I briefly explained the suspicions Blake and I had and that I followed Bella because of it. In the end, my suspicions were right, and I ended up fighting to save her.

"You were very brave. I guarantee the victims and their families upon hearing the news will be grateful to you."

"And Bella, how is she?"

"She's fine. She's a strong woman, she was the one who asked for help."

People walking down the street said a woman covered in blood was desperate for help. A group stopped her and helped her. They called the police and called the hospital.

"That's great."

Suddenly, the bedroom door opened. Two people came in, a doctor and one of the teachers at my school.

"I'm leaving, Jay. Good recovery."

"Thanks."

The detective got up and started walking towards the door, as he passed the doctor and the teacher, he made a small bow. The doctor approached me holding a clipboard.

"Jay, we need to run some precautionary tests."

"OK."

Me, the doctor and the teacher left the room. In the hallway were Blake and Tiffany, I told them I was going to do some tests and that they didn't have to wait for me.

During the exams, the teacher started to explain to me why they lied to the students. They don't want to spoil the tour by scaring the students.

This morning, they gathered the students together and told them to be careful and always walk in a group. As a precaution, the police provided a greater number of security guards for the events.

With increased security and students following instructions, cases like yesterday will be avoided. I think it's very wrong for them to hide something like that.

But I understand. There's Bella's side too, exposing her to all three schools would be extremely wrong. Even more so being the victim of a sensitive subject like this.

After the exams, the doctor discharged me and recommended that I rest. Although it's nothing serious, I have an injury near my ribs.

Blake, Tiffany, the professor and I headed back to the hotel. It was past lunchtime and I was hungry. I walked towards the hotel's restaurant, while several students present looked at me.

With my face covered in bandages, I was a beacon of attention. After lunch, I went back to my room alone.

It would be selfish of me to make Blake and Tiffany waste the rest of the day because of me. After taking the elevator, I reach the floor that is my bedroom.

When the elevator door opened, I saw a red-haired girl knocking on my bedroom door, it was Sarah. On second thought, I had arranged to go out with her today.

"Sarah."

Hearing her name called, Sarah looked at me.

"Where were you? You know how long I've been waiting... What happened to your face?"

Sarah stopped complaining when she noticed the bruises on my face.

"I was mugged yesterday, the muggers attacked me and I ended up going to the hospital. I was just released this afternoon. So I'm sorry I didn't go to the meeting and kept you waiting."

I lied to her.

"No, I have to apologize. I got mad for no reason. More importantly, are you okay?"

"Yes, almost everything has already been resolved. The police managed to catch the guys thanks to a security camera, and so that something like this doesn't happen, they increased security."

"That's good. Now, let's go into your room, I'll take care of you."

"OK."

Sarah and I walked into my room. Sarah told me to wait while she ran a bath for me, something I was in need of. At the hospital, one of the nurses must have cleaned me up, but I still feel a little dirty.

"Is ready."

"Okay, thanks Sarah."

"I'll go to my room and be right back."

"Hmm... Right."

Upon entering the bathroom, I put my hand in the bathwater to take the temperature.

"Is perfect."

I took off my clothes and walked into the water, relaxing. I spent about five minutes relaxing in the hot water, until suddenly the door opened.

"I went back."

It was Sarah who entered. She had a beautiful smile on her face and around her body was a towel.

"What you are doing?"

"Isn't it obvious? I came to help you shower."

Sarah said and dropped the towel, exposing her body.
