Anything to get you back

The two confused men bumped into each other in the darkness, trying to scatter in different directions. Finally, they managed to do so and stumbled out into the street. The man went to the well, and Dai-Kun just stood in the moonlight and tried to cool his heart with the cold night air.

He was very happy, though he felt that he had stolen this happiness and did not deserve it. As he touched his lips, he vividly imagined finally being able to kiss his man. It came out impulsively but still succeeded. And what the man had done for him, wasn't it a miracle?

He looked at his master, who was carefully washing his hands and washing his face, and he felt just a little ashamed. He wanted to go over and hug him again, I wanted to wash all the embarrassment of him myself, but he wouldn't let that happen.

Later, as they lay in bed, without dinner, they reflected on the events of the evening. But they thought very differently: Dai-Kun tried not to forget anything, and the Overlord dreamed of erasing the evening from his memory.

The awkwardness between them persisted for several days until Dai-Kun finally decided to confess. He was so fed up with this cat and mouse game that it seemed better to be straightforward about his feelings than to be so tormented. He pursued the man again, but the opportunity to talk came only in the evening.

They stood before a valley with very few dragons left. The man had said that day that there was no need to create new creatures-they were doing just fine on their own, forming pairs. And it was sunset again. The sky was still blue, but the sparse stretched clouds had turned pink.

Dai-Kun walked up to the man and put his hand on his shoulder.

"Let's talk," he said.

"Okay," the man replied with a little apprehension.

They were standing across from each other close enough to see the emotion on their faces.

"What did you want to talk about," the man broke the silence.

"About feelings..."

Here we go, now he's going to tell me everything, now I'm going to find out who stole my Dai-Kun's heart - the man flustered.

"Okay, I'm listening."

"It's hard for me to say, can I show you?"

"Huh? How?"

The man, looked around for a potential Dai-Kun's match he could point to, and then he felt a hand slip down his back and a warm touch on his lips. He opened his eyes as he had that time and rested his hands on Dai-Kun's chest.

Pulling away, he stared at the dragon with wide eyes, his lips trembling.

"What is the meaning of this? You've been practicing on me so you won't fail at a crucial moment?"

Dai-Kun repeated his experiment, wrapping him in his arms again and kissing him. The man froze in surprise; he never knew if he liked it or not, just staring at Dai-Kun without blinking.

"Is it because of the other night?" he asked himself.

"I love you," Dai-Kun said quietly, but loud enough to make the man's heart skip a beat with shock.

The Overlord covered his eyes with his hand.

"I have loved you for a very long time," Dai-Kun repeated, but the words melted with excitement and could not penetrate the man's mind.

He was completely overwhelmed. Taking a few steps back, he turned and ran away, leaving Dai-Kun alone to deal with his feelings. It was cruel, he knew it, but he couldn't help his panic. That night Dai-Kun did not come home for the night. And early in the morning, the man found his bed untouched.

He lost his appetite and went straight to work. Another group of Elders arrived, wanting dragons. After tending to them for the evening, he was knocked off his feet and wandered home out of habit. When Dai-Kun didn't show up by nightfall either, the man began to worry.

He went out of the house and looked around the area. Going straight to the lake, he made no mistake about the direction, and among the thick carpet of pine thorns, he found Dai-Kun lying down.

"He seems to be very anxious," thought the man as he approached closer.

He leaned over and patted him on the shoulder. There was no reaction. Putting his hand to Dai-Kun's cheek, the man flinched; his skin was very cold. He was all icy and...wet? The man called out to him, but to no avail; the dragon did not come to his senses.

Guessing that Dai-Kun was swimming in the icy lake with his clothes on, the man began to pull off his wet shirt. Then, lifting him, he sat him right in front of him and hugged him, rubbing his shoulders and chest with his hands.

"What have you been doing all day? Hiding from me? How many hours did you spend in the lake and why?"

Slowly Dai-Kun came to his senses. When he saw the man trying to warm him up, he frowned.

"Don't," he held up his hand, "I'm fine."

"But..." the man froze, "at least sleep in the house."

"All right," Dai-Kun grumbled.

They got up and walked back. After a silent dinner, the men took turns going to bed without looking at each other. During the night, Dai-Kun began to cough and was all burning. The man burned candles until morning and rubbed the dragon's body with warm water, having previously freed him from almost all his clothes.

Only in the morning, Dai-Kun forgets to sleep, and the man fell asleep next to him. Though sickness is bad, the man was relieved that they did not have to explain themselves temporarily.

Running away after the second kiss, he was confused and depressed. He wished he could go back to that simple and happy time when they traveled together. The time when he had taught the dragon to read and write would also be fitting. But now everything was confusing.

The universe was unstable: an evil spirit had infiltrated the human world, consuming the souls of the elders. The lord was worried about this, realizing the dire consequences such an enemy could have. He had been thinking about it for some time and decided on a risky step: to go to the world where this spirit came from and, if possible, to find its natural enemy.

As you know, all creatures have one who is stronger. He had planned to go there with Dai-Kun, but now the relationship between the two was complicated beyond belief. Opening his eyes, the man looked at the sleeping dragon: it was quiet and peaceful.

The lord moved quietly to his bed and let his tired body rest some more.

When the scent of food wafted across the room, the man opened his eyes, blinking a little he concluded that there must be sand in his eyes.

He rubbed them, but feeling no relief, he decided to get up as he was. Dai-Kun set the table, seemingly feeling better. He greeted politely and generally behaved in a friendly manner. Rubbing his temples, the man sat down to breakfast: wow, his favorite egg rolls and thinly sliced cabbage.

He looked gratefully at Dai-Kun, but he didn't respond.

"Well, if you feel better, how about coming with me on an errand?" The man spoke.

"Sure," the dragon nodded quite calmly.

The man had never been to this ghostly world full of mirages before. They'd encountered nothing but the first living beings they'd encountered on their journey. They had to take an alien form to blend into the local society. The planet was low-level with no signs of civilization.

The sky above them was permanently obscured by gloomy clouds. After spending several days in ambush and short sorties, man and dragon managed to spot a heavily guarded military settlement. After a few more days of futile attempts, the human decided to record his observations and visit the planet later, when he had given it some thought.

It seemed to the man that the sortie cheered the Dai-Kun up.

The dragon was learning a new experience: dealing with his feelings. To begin with, he pretended that nothing had happened. He managed to convince the man of this and his mood improved.

"Well, if he only needs me as a servant and friend, then that's what I'll be," Dai-Kun made a deal with himself. He became as attentive and caring as before, pushing embarrassing memories from his thoughts.

He managed on his own when he got overexcited again one day. Now he could "take care of himself" at any time, and though it was different than that time with the man, he accepted it.

A strange dark desire was taking root within him: he wanted to die for the man, to make him regret having rejected him.

But he realized this dangerous thought very late. Satisfied with himself and with life, the man lounged in the sunshine while Dai-Kun chopped wood in the backyard.

"Dai-Kun's insanity seems to have passed; he never once brought up or spoke of that subject again," the man reflected.

"It's a good thing I didn't even have to think about it, it's too complicated and bad timing," the man sat down with his feet propped up.

"When I left my home, I doomed myself to loneliness, but I did it consciously. I don't think anyone would approve of me being paired with my creation, it's ridiculous, I can't even explain why, but I find it very funny. I don't even have anyone to share it with... So it's a good thing that Dai-Kun left those thoughts behind. It's enough that I'll be ashamed of that night for the rest of my life," he didn't notice as he began to speak out loud.

The next day, the man poisoned his way to the frontiers to cheer the Elders and the dragons on. Dai-Kun went with him, as usual. The situation was tense, with hundreds of defenders and dragons trying to fend off a powerful attack on a barely created planet.

Its core was still unstable, and it was only a matter of time before it was swallowed, so thousands of monsters swarmed toward the planet like moths to bright light. If they succeeded in completing what they had begun, the labors of the humans, and especially their precious life energy, would be swallowed up without a chance to recover.

Every time the Creators came together to make a new world appear, they would sacrifice their inner strength and then need to live on this planet for at least a year. Then the planet's core would gradually give them back their energy, strengthening day by day.

As soon as the balance is stable the planet will come to life, and people and animals will settle on it, but until that moment it is necessary to withstand numerous attacks from evil spirits.

The man released Dai-Kun to deal with the attack, and he went to help the creators stabilize the core.

Many were already unconscious, having spent their last resources to support him. The Overlord used his power and poured a powerful stream of power into the common cauldron.

This emboldened the people and they continued to fight with redoubled fervor. Meanwhile, the sky above them was crimson. The roar of thunder from the collision with the enemy made the hearts of the people tremble.

The Overlord spoke to them.

"Fear not, friends, my brave helper Dai-Kun is with us today. He will surely win, and all will be well."

The people nodded trustingly and believed their leader. Finally, the allies defeated the enemy and it was all over. The people fell to the ground in exhaustion, supporting each other. The Overlord toiled tirelessly.

First of all, he created a spring and helped people quench their thirst. After taking care of everyone he could, he went to check on the army.

There were many deaths among the men and dragons that day. The Overlord was depressed. He walked bitterly between the bodies of the dead. Their brave deaths depressed him, and as always he felt guilt.

As he moved forward he noticed a group of warriors surrounding someone's body. They parted at the sight of the Overlord, averting their eyes in embarrassment.

For some reason every step was difficult. The man came to where the man was lying on the ground with a gruesome wound on his chest. His face was turned the other way, but the man already knew... his lips were numb and his eyes were cloaked in a fog of pain... Dai-Kun lay before him.

His medallion was covered in blood, his hands clenched into a fist, a scarlet stream running from the corner of his mouth, his eyes staring lifelessly into the distance. The man rushed toward him trying to cover the gaping wound in his chest...

"How is it, how is it...it can't be, Dai-Kun…please tell me this is a joke, please Dai-Kun, let's go home...please..."

The man covered his eyes with his hand, feeling streams of tears flood his face, and screamed... he grabbed Dai-Kun's face and looked into his eyes without stopping screaming... the people retreated a few steps in horror, seeing for the first time that the Overlord had perfectly human emotions and could suffer the same way they did.

Cradling his lifeless body, the Overlord could not come to his senses and kept asking his friend to come home with him...

That day his sun faded... continuing to pour tears, he picked up Dai-Kun and carried him away. The people looked after him for a long time, not daring to say a word. The feeling of joy of victory was overshadowed by grief.

On a cliff with a beautiful view, the man was burying his only friend. He could no longer cry, only sobbed convulsively like a child.

"Dai-Kun... I will surely... I will surely find a way to tell you... I must tell you... Dai-Kun..."

The man lay on the fresh grave hill and watched the scarlet sunset staining everything red, he was gently smoothing the ground as if he were making a bed for a child... He wanted to cry, wanted to cry so badly, but no more tears could fall from his dry eyes... then he broke his rule and it rained on the ground...

The man sat beside his friend. After many days spent in a sorrowful fog, the man broke another of his rules and visited home. He didn't miss his parents or his brothers, he was looking to see his grandfather. He was the only one who had exceptional knowledge of the genetics of rebirth.

After spending a few weeks with him, the man thanked the old man and went back. Using the knowledge he gained, he was able to create a rebirth lake near the Academy. Thus the souls of dead dragons began to return to this world.

He waited impatiently, but all but Dai-Kun returned. When the last dead dragon appeared in the world, the Overlord realized.

"Dai-Kun...admit it...you don't want to see me...you did it on purpose, you left me in such a cruel way. What else can I do?"

The Overlord returned to his planet and severed all ties with humans. Moreover, he shifted the planet's orbit so that it became impossible to find. Unfortunately, human life is much shorter than memories of the Overlord. Humans elevated him to the rank of the saint and gave him the title of Light-bearer.

Thousands of years later, however, no one saw his face again. It was said that he had left the universe or died following Dai-Kun. All that remained of his visible presence in the world was a mysterious library.
