There was no friendship between the people of this group. They were just like coworkers that were working for the same person.

Even if they killed Karyk in revenge, it wasn't going to change anything. Instead, they might also suffer additional loss of life during the process. 

It was much better to make Karyk join their group, letting him take the place of the person that died. Based on his stealth abilities, he didn't seem like a bad choice either. 

Karyk had thought that the people were going to attack him right away. He didn't expect them to be so calm. They were more scared of their leader, than they cared about the others. 

"Shouldn't you tell me about the person that you were talking about? If I need to join the team, I should at least know the leader." Karyk tossed aside the corpse of the man.
