Betrayal

A month before.

Alya looked at her mother's grave. It was a piece of stone with carved letters. Quite humble, rustic. None of the luxuries of the tombs of the mighty. The girl thought that her father would have a mausoleum when he died. But her mother… would be forgotten, with a makeshift headstone that no one but Alya would visit.

"Mother, I went to my father yesterday," the girl had her head down. Tasteless raindrops wet her green hair. "At first I didn't think I would be able to, but in the end I did. I told him I wanted to go back to the mansion. I told him I wanted to inherit the family name. It went wrong, mother. Everything was a disaster."

The rain fell nonstop.

"What a fool I was. What was I waiting for? It was obvious that I would be rejected. However… I am going to do something that you will surely reproach me for… I hope you will forgive me for what I am about to do, mother."
