Yonesh's journey begins

On the horizon, the colors orange and black were combined, due to the approaching night. Yonesh stepped off the boat and breathed in the rotten air of Rutena. He had heard that this port town smelled of old fish, sea, and sunburned skin, all combined. And yes, the rumors were true. The smell was disgusting.

The young monk walked among the sweating bodies of the sailors on the wooden pier. The humans all had tanned skin, while the demons had dirty, unkempt clothing. All with wrinkled faces, yellow teeth, and unkempt beards.

"Yonesh, wait!" Lalis exclaimed, running to catch up with the boy. "Could you not leave me behind?"

The boy looked at her. "I'm sorry, it's that…," he looked towards one ship, then another, "I've never seen Rutena before," he was mesmerized.

"What is special about it?" The girl adjusted the backpack she was carrying. "It is a port town like any other."

"Smells awful," the boy said, and that sounded like a thought out loud.
