Chapter 26: Accidental Hunting

NORI'S POV

I haven’t seen soldiers around us in eight years. There’s been no reason. We’re far enough outside of the city, without neighbors or even farmland in our vicinity, that there’s been no action breaking up the idyllic peace where the monsters live. If soldiers did cross into our territory, it was during the day while we were too far under to notice.

Yet, my fledgling boyfriend- was he my boyfriend?- lover?- had found three, which meant there were probably more nearby. I had to get this cleaned up, save that soldier’s life, and distract Milo somehow in a very short time. If either the other soldiers found us or one of the Cauldron came upon us, we’d be waist high in trouble.

I refuse, point-blank, to kill soldiers fighting for earth, especially a whole platoon. I also refuse to allow any of the Cauldron to put Milo down for exposing us. I had to fix this. Fix it fast, Nori.

Step one- hide the bodies.
