Chapter 20: The Cell

"...Lulu."

My eyes began to open. It was dark but not as dark as the endless blackness I had seen. I could even feel that I was somewhere cold and damp. The sounds of muffled cries mixed with the squeals of rats entering my ears all combined told me I wasn't dead.

My eyes adjusted to the low light, and I noticed long metal rods at the far end of the room and a girl in a fetal position in the corner next to me. I could tell it was the same girl as before from her hair, but she wasn't wearing her lovely dress anymore and had rags on.

"Hey?" I called out.

She looked up, tears and a bit of snot running down her face. She crawled over, hyperventilating so much that I was scared she would pass out. I sat up and got her to calm down, showing her how to steady her breathing and reassuring her that she would be okay.
