Moon Tribe's Captive?

Put me down – the three words Sue Terin kept on chanting in her mind.

Lordie, who had entered the system discretely right after Heidi entered the room earlier, was now silent at the back of her mind. Right when she needed his distraction the most, the damn three-tailed fox chose this moment to tuck his tails and hide!

Now, Sue Terin could only inhale and exhale. But she guessed her inhaling and exhaling routing became pretty intense. The next moment she knew, Heidi sat on the stairs, put her on his lap, and made her look straight at him by inching her chin toward him.

"What happened?" asked Heidi with a deep knot lodged between his brows as his emotionless black eyes flickered something that Sue Terin refused to acknowledge. "Why are you hyperventilating?"

In a squeaky voice, she forced herself to power through the anxiety attack. "I-I am just… excited to see what lies beyond the barrier. No need to fuss over it."
