Kara dropped me off in front of my house. I got down and shot her a small smile before hurrying along.
We didn't speak much on our way home. She seemed pretty much occupied with her own thought and leaving me to mine. I couldn't be more grateful for the peace and quiet.
I pushed the front door open and made my way inside with careful steps, trying not to attract any form of attention to myself but I wasn't so lucky.
My dad was seating in front of the TV in the living room while my mom had just emerged from the kitchen with a spatula in one hand.
"Hey mom, dad" I plastered a small smile on my face.
"Hey sweetie" my mom looked at me, her smile mirroring mine.
"How was school?" Dad had spared me a smile too, looking away from the TV and back at me.
"School was great" I lied through my teeth and my mom read right through me.
