Chapter 39

I exhales as I watch them have their normal conversation even after that phone call.

"Building tents out of sheets inside the house was a major part of mom's childhood." Ben glances at me. "That's why we do it too when it's raining outside like right now. Or when it's snowing. It's easy." He says with a smile.

Hugo listens eagerly with a smile plastered on his face and I can see a different spark behind his eyes.

"But we need lots and lots and lots and lots of blankets. Oh! And pillows! Flashlights too!" Ben extends his arms to the side as if he's showing us something really huge.

Ben starts talking to Hugo about building a tent out of sheets inside this living room and how excited he looked to build one here. He started off by scrounging up the blankets and sheets on his own and said that we needed to connect one blanket after the other and once the corners are tucked under the couches and shelves and anything else that could hold it up, our tent is built.
