“Did you check the patient?” he asked without glancing at me. Her eyes focused on the paper in front of her.
“Yes doc,” I answered. I tucked in a hair stand behind my ear.
He was referring to what you just admitted earlier. I haven’t been to that yet. But the nurse told someone to go there earlier. I have a question for you.
What is that?
“Oh, the patient was asking if he could get out of the hospital,” I added. I almost forgot and remembered the cup.
He turned to me and leaned back in his chair.
“Hmmm,” said the doc.
I remained standing while thinking about it. Does he think I am?
“Do I have any meetings or appointments later?” he asked.
I looked down at the paper he was holding, here was his schedule all day. I looked up and then shook. “Nothing, doc.”
He nodded then stood up in his swivel chair.
“Let’s check on him,” he said.
