CHAPTER 9 – Calling Home

  KELLEN

The three of us sat in mine and Mike’s suite, of course, being a Prince, I had one of the largest suites. It still wasn’t as big as my room back in the palace, but it was cozy and better than most of the dorms here. I didn’t need fancy all the time and the rooms' functions were suited to the academy.

Mike and I had bedrooms at opposite ends of the suite, with our own bathrooms. In the middle was a seating area with two ugly plaid couches and a wooden chair with a corduroy backing and seat cover. We had a microwave and fridge that Mike always kept stocked with beer or some sort of alcohol. And a little breakfast counter with two stools that separated the seating space from the kitchenette area. The hardwood floors had been remodeled or at least refinished and had a nice sheen to them to the point where you could almost see your own reflection.
