CHAPTER 18 - Running

  LAMIA

It was a week later and we had all settled into school and classes. I had moved back in with my parents, who had moved back into the palace at some point when we were at the academy.

They knew about mine and Kellen’s now ‘romantic’ relationship. I guess they thought they would have better control over our extended activities;. However, Kellen ended up sleeping in my bed every night anyway.

My first night back in my room, the nightmares had begun. I had woken up in a cold sweat screaming for Mike. The same shrill voice I used when the bear had attacked him. The glaring red eyes plaguing my dreams and consuming me with terror. The feel of his claws digging in was so vivid, bringing back the pain. When my father came in to comfort me, I had lashed out in a fit of terror and clawed at him. I guess I had woken up the whole palace with my screams and didn’t calm down until Kellen’s arms held me down in a tight embrace, soothing the shaking fear.
