The next couple of days, Monty and Beatrice did nothing but get to know each other’s bodies. He knew where to touch her that would send her over the edge. Midway out they ran into a storm that tossed the ship back and forth. Beatrice ended up hitting the wall. The hit was directly into her stomach. Monty laid her down and refused to let her back up. Beatrice began bleeding heavily and running a fever. Monty had helped Elsa back home, so he fixed something to help with the bleeding and the fever. By morning, the fever had gone but she had passed the baby along with it. Monty felt bad for the miscarriage, but Beatrice was glad. There was no reason that Lord Bernard had any claim on her now.
