"It was horrible," I say. "I wanted to kill myself. I had no one in life until I met Percy, and then he betrayed me… I guess I agreed to marry Sterling because I felt like I had no other choice."

I stare at him. He stares at the road ahead. "Do you know something about our arrangement that I don't?"
