Hearing this, I immediately sat up and darted my gaze around the room in frenzy.

Jacob chuckled at my reaction. "That would do it," he exclaimed, shuffling his feet to the rectangular window at the side.

Rubbing my eyes, I set my feet on the ground, my attention now drawn to the open frame. It was morning. Very early in the morning, probably hours before daybreak arrives.

"On your feet, boy! Your mates are on roll call. Clearly, you don't want to get into misfortunes again, do you?"

"Yes Sir." I brushed off my shorts as I stood, and with a grateful bow at Jacob, I ran off from the kitchen.

The clamoring I heard not too long ago must've been the cadets' returning.

So early! I wondered how they managed to see the paths on which they journeyed at that time of the dark morning. Moreover, wasn't the break too short?

Thankfully, that morning went fairly well.
