Chapter 11

Elijah

Sophia pulling me into her room surprised me, and I stumbled. My arms instinctively went around her as I stepped back, so I wouldn't fall on her, and I hit the door. I heard it close behind me, and went still. In a second, the realization that we were alone in Sophia's room hit me, and I stiffened. I looked down at Sophia, and my hands tightened where I had them on her waist.

"Sophia..." I said her name, my voice husky as my eyes went half-lidded.

I'd wanted to kiss her for a while now. When I got her to relax around me, it was easy enough to be distracted. Everything about her drew me in. her long, brown hair and green eyes, the way her face would darken in a blush. And especially when she laughed. It felt like my heart would stop. I felt like I'd only really seen her this afternoon, though I'd known her distantly for more than a year.

"If I asked you to kiss me," she whispered. "Would you say no?"
