A few weeks went by. Sara and I only got closer and closer. Even though they hadn't met her, because I didn't let them meet her, my roommates knew I was seeing someone. I didn't deny it when they teased me about it, and even my friends noticed.

It didn't hurt that I was going around smiling more, all the stress from my money problems gone.

The tuition problem didn't magically go away, but after going to the office and making my case, I had enough time to pay it all up. I'd managed some of it by myself, and I was waiting on Dad, the worry that he wouldn't come through for me, in the end, was still there, but I did my best not to let it get to me.

My phone vibrated in my pocket as I left a class with my friends, and I pulled it out, grinning when I saw Sara's name.

"Oh, there it is. It's the new girlfriend."

I looked up at Mark, one of my friends, with a frown. The others snickered at his words, but I didn't bother correcting him.
