Two.

My hands have never been this sweaty before. Sure, I've been in plenty of nerve racking situations before, but not like this. Nothing on this planet could ever make me as nervous as I am right now, standing in a room full of all six pack Alphas and their current Betas.

Why we chose to meet here, I will never fully understand. This room was too small to hold all of this Alpha power.

I stopped listening to them argue over petty territory lines about ten minutes ago. It was always the same, no matter how big of a problem we faced.

The Rogues are our main threat at the moment, and they're sitting here arguing over one foot of land. I guess it wouldn't bother me so much if I hadn't been nearly mutilated during the Rogue's attack on my pack last year. It quieted down after the lake house explosion, but we all knew it was far from over.

After the attack on us, they moved on to each of the other packs, one by one, destroying a meaningful piece of territory each time. None of us were able to ever catch it on time, and we never could understand why, until we found an underground tunnel that was made hundreds of years ago during the plantation slave wars. I guess the Rogues found a way to use them to their advantage.

"You seem to be having about as much fun as I am." I hear a voice break through my thoughts, making me shake my head before I turned to acknowledge the husky male voice behind me.

My breath caught as I my eyes matched with the emerald forest green eyes of Zeke, the Beta of the Hellhound Reserve.

I've never officially met him, but I've heard so many things about him from the not so short list of females that gawk at him on a daily basis, that I feel like we already have met.

Zeke Summers, the Beta of the Hellhound Reserve. Tall, dark, and handsome. Black hair, green eyes, and a scent that attracts any female from anywhere; and he knows it. Typical description of a douche bag Beta.

"It's Lillith," Zeke's voice breaking me through my thoughts again, "right?" I feel the heat in my face at the realization that I was staring.

"U-Uh huh," I get out shakily while composing myself, "but most people just call me Lilly." I glance back up at him, meeting his eyes just barely before looking away again, his smirk noticeable in my peripherals.

Honestly, his fans did not do him justice. His hair was longer yes, but only to the center of his ears, giving him that perfect fluffy look. Light freckles dotted the spaces under his eyes and partly on his nose. His eyes a deep forest emerald, screaming the word freedom. His voice was husky, yet calming, almost making you want to hear him talk more. His chest was wide, but slim. Broad shoulders bordered his torso, making it clear he was not an easy target.

I start to space out, losing myself in my own thoughts while scanning this man for any imperfections, and finding nothing.

I shake my head as I hear the alphas begin to put end to their meeting with their signature sounds of farewells that come along with each pack.

I look back up at Zeke, who's now smirking even more, having noticed my current state of mind. I collect myself, reaching my hand out in greeting, as is expected during these kind of meetings.

To my surprise, he doesn't return the favor. Instead, he grabs my fingers in his very warming hand, pulls it towards himself, leans down slightly, and kisses the back of my hand.

"I'm Zeke." he drawls out lazily while greeting his eyes with mine.

I pull my hand slowly away and hold it almost protectively with my other. I give him a glare, which only makes his smirk grow, his pride enflame, and my face hot. I allow myself, for some odd reason to get lost in his eyes for just a second, finding his eyes very welcome and comforting, yet mysterious and dominant. He's trouble, and I can feel it in my core.

I turn myself to meet back up with Damien, my pack Alpha, so we can head back home to our territory.

Just before walking away, I turn my head slighty over my shoulder, glancing back at Zeke, his smirk now a mischievous grin, "Oh, I know."
