She could feel it. She could feel them watching her. Watched her every move like she was a criminal. She could hear their whispers, they called her a witch. But she didn't blame them, she was indeed a witch. Riley walked the school hallway quietly as the others watch from a distance. They didn't want to get too close. Who knows what evil thing she will do to them. Just the way she killed her parents she will hurt them too. She walked into her last class for the day glad that she will soon get the day over with. History. She hated that class but what can she do about it.
Riley studied the class and as expected it was divided by the students themselves into two parts. The students sat on the right while on the left were empty chairs where she sat alone.
But she wasn't always alone. there was one person who sat with her on that part. the school weirdo or as Riley likes to call him, the Hoodie guy. No one has ever seen his face, he always had his hoodie on, and the only visible part of his face was his lips. it looks like he doesn't see but he does, he could see clearly and Riley knew that he was always watching her, she felt his stares, he would stare deep into her soul. as much as she was glad that he wasn't scared of sitting with her, she wasn't comfortable.
Now there he was like he was waiting for her to arrive. she went to sit down ignoring everyone's gaze " I can get through this, I always do " she whispered to herself before the class began.
it was more than halfway through class when they got interrupted. it was the school principal asking for Riley through the speaker.
" well Miss Riley, off you go," the history teacher said to her and without hesitation, Riley walked out of the class
" finally" she was relieved. this time it was much more comfortable walking the school hall because all students were in class " I wonder what I did wrong" she question herself hoping to find answers to why the school principal wanted to see her
the school principal Mrs Oliver was a wonderful woman. since Riley's parents died she has been watching over Riley and unlike others, she never showed hatred toward Riley. Her daughter Valentine was Riley's only friend but unfortunately, she goes to a boarding school in California so Riley only gets to see her during the holidays.
" Mrs Oliver?" Riley called as she gently knocks on the door to the office
" come in " Mrs Oliver replied. Riley enters the office. her office was always dark and Riley always wondered why.
" Did I do something" Mrs Oliver smiled at the innocent young lady
" No, you didn't" Mrs Oliver's eyes fell on the side of her table like she was hiding something there " in fact I have a surprise for you "
Riley raised an eyebrow and suddenly someone jumped out from the table side " surprise!!!" Riley couldn't control the overwhelming joy
" Valentine?" she screamed " oh my God "
Mrs Oliver watched as both girls embraced themselves
" I've missed you so much," Valentine said
" I've missed more," Riley replied as they both pulled away " how have you been?"
" great. what about you " Valentine asked as they both sat on the bench
" The same " sadness in her tone " just trying to live through each day "
" well am back now " wrapping her arms around Riley's neck " and we will make most of the time I have " Riley chocked and laughed at the same time. Valentine had a way of putting a smile on her face
" am so glad you are back," Riley said
" ok " Mrs Oliver interrupted " as much as I love this view, I got work to do so you girls should take this outside alright "
" mom, I will be back home late today just so you know," Valentine said " I have some catch-up to do with Riley " she smiled at her friend
" How late? "
" 10 " Valentine replied
" 8 "
" 10 "
" 8:30 "
" 9:30 "
" 9. and it final " Mrs Oliver announced
" deal " Valentine smiled while Riley watch the in complete lost
" That was freaky " She managed to say. suddenly the school bell ran
" ok, we are off now " Valentine announced while she pull Riley along with her.
Riley was so excited to finally have someone after so long. she was always bored of staying at home alone in that mansion and no one ever come to visit. just once every week, the police come to check on how she was doing and her uncle who was supposed to be her legal guardian is never at home. but today will be different, today she has Valentine.
sitting on the bed in Riley's bedroom, they were watching the Avengers Endgame. Valentine often cried at the end of the movie no matter how much she watch it, this made Riley laugh " my Tony Stark " She whispered but Riley could hear her
" This is the 6th time we are watching this. and you cry every time " Riley said as she rolls her eyes
" so" Valentine sat up
" it's just a movie, Val "
" I cry over a movie, at list am not the one scared of the basement "Valentine mocked
" am not scared of the basement " she defended
" oh really" Valentine points to the pile of dirty laundry by the side of the room " what is that "
" I have just been too lazy to wash "
" or you've been too scared to go down there and wash " Valentine corrected " I have known you too long Riley"
" yeah whatever" their conversation was interrupted by the doorbell " that must be the pizza delivery " she got out of bed " be back in a minute"
" get me a glass of milk please" Valentine requested
" can't you get it your self " with an eyebrow raised
" the movie is not over yet " Riley rolled her eyes at Valentine's response. she grabbed a purse from the desk and made her way downstairs straight to the front door. she opened the door and was amazed by the figure standing before her. Ocean blue eyes, amazingly long Golden hair, broad shoulders and well built, he was about 6 feet, Riley had to lift her head to get a better view of him
" Hi " she was out of words
" Hello," he replied.
