Chapter 16
Riley took a quick shower and wore the clothes Aiden gave her. it was sky blue jeans and his black hoodie. " Damn he smells nice " she whispered, embracing his scent as she sniff the hoodie. looking at her reflection in the mirror. the hoodie was very big making her look like a cute big baby, then she wore her wig. she made her way downstairs hoping to find Aiden but he was nowhere to be found " Where is Aiden " she asked Max as she entered the kitchen
" he went to get something in the bedroom " Riley nodded in understanding. " Pancakes?" he offered
" yeah I'm starving " she replied with a dramatic tone and wide-open eyes
" Ha " Max gave a short laugh at the young lady
" surely you will. you've been sleeping all day" Aiden who suddenly entered the kitchen said. he stopped at his track with eyes on Riley. he was the one who gave her his hoodie but he didn't think she will look so Damn pretty in it. he was overwhelmed with excitement and wanted to explode but he only smiled " you look good in it " he complimented instantly she understood what he was referring to
" oh " her face heated " thanks " she looked away out of embarrassment and sat down so he wouldn't see her face but Aiden went around the table and sat on the chair across her. now she was facing him directly. she smiled shyly
" here you go " Max placed a plate of pancakes in front of her " And Aiden, let the girl be, she is uncomfortable " he scolded making Aiden smile
" Riley do I make you uncomfortable?" Aiden's question surprised her
" wha..what " she went speechless
" oh come on Aiden you don't think she will say yes do you?" Max cut in
" that should be my problem, not your's " Aiden replied as he watched Max grab the spatula and throw it at him and he dodged it while laughing.
Riley couldn't get her eyes off him. his laugh was like a wonderful melody in the air. it sinks in her heart causing it to race. Damn, she has a huge crush on this guy.
Aiden was wearing another black hoodie similar to the one she was wearing. she watches him pull out something from his back and place it on the table. it was a gun
" Hey that's mine " Max announced pointing at the gun
" you won't mind me taking "
" How did you find it "
" you are not nearly good at hiding things," Aiden said reluctantly " don't " his tone suddenly became serious as he said to Riley who was now reaching for the gun. immediately Riley withdraws with both hands high in surrender
" God, why so serious?" she smiled
" you've never held a gun. can't let you hurt yourself " he warned " eat up "
" Are we going out?" she asked curiously
" We have to...." He hesitates, confusing both Riley and Max.
" what's wrong," Riley asked. Aiden didn't reply. he sat still focusing on something then he frowned and stood up
" We have to leave "
" What?. Now? " Riley was shocked at his words
" they've found us " He announced as he grabbed the gun.
" how come, " Max asked, also surprise.
" no time to worry about that. we have to get out " Aiden walked out of the kitchen and Riley followed. he made his way upstairs but something caught Riley's attention.
Riley walked towards the window. outside were several cars surrounding the house, and men with guns stood next to the cars. they were dressed in normal clothes, they were not Dr Frankly's men. Riley's heart was racing in fear. they were a lot of them, how will they get out?. what if she gets caught again?
She saw neighbours outside and she noticed the confusion on the neighbour's faces. they were probably wondering what was happening. while some stood to watch, some pulled their kids into the house.
Riley felt the presence of someone behind her. she lifts her head to see Max who was focused outside " that a lot of men out there " he had an angry tone
" they are not Dr Frankly's men " Riley informed
" really " Max nodded, in understanding
"it's Levi's men, " Aiden who appeared out of nowhere said and that information made her heart hurt like crazy. it was Levi. the woman who is responsible for her parent's death " that son of a beach Anthony " Aiden cursed for the first time but Riley had no interest in replying. she was interested in something else
" you guy should leave I will hold them off," Max said as he set his gun
" no. we should leave together," Riley said with a worried tone. Max is a wonderful guy, she won't be pleased with him dying because of her
" that is not....." Aiden cut Max off
" you leave with Riley. I will get rid of them " his words shocked her
" what the fuck, No" she yelled
" Riley..." he was cut off before he could say what he wanted to say
" Aiden you have to leave with her to protect her " Max said calmly
" Max. they are a lot of them out there. they will kill you if they don't find us. but if they see me it will make them believe that she is hiding in the house giving me an advantage"
" Aiden no " Riley said with a worried tone " what is you get hurt " the thought of Aiden staying behind to fight made her heartache
" you know very well I will be alright Riley," he said trying to ease her worries
" But still...."
"Attention residence of this building" a loudspeaker interrupted " we trace a wanted criminal to this neighbourhood. this house to be exact"
" wanted criminal?" Riley yelled with anger " How dare they call me a criminal "
" her name is Riley Wilson " The loudspeaker continued " I advise you to hand over the criminal or we will be forced to use force "
" I want to kill them " Riley whispered to herself but Aiden her
" The time for that will come "
" let me stay and help, " Riley offered. she didn't want to leave him
" No "
" but I can help. I can control myself now...." Aiden cut her off
" Riley no. ok. you still have learning to do. even if you have control. I will be distracted "he said
" Aiden I want to stay...." Aiden took her warm hands in his cutting her off
" let me protect you. ok " he pleaded "as I have always done"
" if the girl is not out in 5 then we will come in " The loudspeaker announced
" you guys will meet me at the lake," Aiden said to Max and Max nodded in understanding. " ok "their eyes met
" ok " she nodded
" Good " he let her go. she was about to leave when he pulled her back and kissed her forehead. the moment his lips touched her skin she was taken to heaven and brought back but she got lost in the excitement that took her
" make sure you don't get hurt," he said in a low tone
" 1. 2. " it began to count. but Riley still lost. Max had to carry her. they went through the back door and began running into the bushes. Riley stopped at her track when she heard gunshots
" don't worry he will be fine" Max assured her before pulling her along with him. he was right. Aiden will be alright. but why was she still so worried? why did she feel so uneasy about the idea? what if she loses him. what will she do next?
