Chapter 30

" what are we?" wondering why he looked surprised. she thought that after their kiss, they were officially dating

" what are we?" throwing the question back at her, he had both eyebrows raised. Riley's heart sunk into her chest

" what do you mean what are we?" with a frown. " you mean we are nothing?" she waited patiently for his response but he didn't say a word " Aiden " he felt her panic as his name rolled out of her mouth. does it mean they were not dating? but he said he likes her, and they kiss.

She got angry. using her hand to pull herself up. before she got the chance to completely stand, Aiden lifts himself, and caught her by the waist, bringing her back down. she fell on him resting her back on his chest, he whispered to her ear " my girlfriend is quick to the conclusion " she flushed bright red " it's cute " whispered seductively, leaning to her neck. Riley let out a squeak of shock when she felt his lips on her skin

" sorry " feeling embarrassed " I wasn't expecting that "

" I know " in a calming tone, smiling at her cute reaction, he rests his head on her shoulder " we should be going back now " sadly

" Yeah "

" let's stay like this for a little while longer " tighten his hold around her

" oh, Princess. I've been looking for you " Wilson called out to Riley who was walking towards him and a group of scientists with Aiden right behind her " give me a minute" he said to the scientists who were showing him some paperwork. leaving them he made his way toward Riley and Aiden and stopped in front of them, and so did they.

" Sir " Aiden greeted

" Where did you take her?" with curiosity in his tone " I checked every Surveillance footage and couldn't find you "

" does it matter" looked confused " is Aiden going to hurt me or something " look into her father's eye

" that is not what I meant. I was just worried" smiling

" Well, you shouldn't. I am ok "

he eyed Aiden as he asked " How are you feeling" looking back at Riley

" am good. just need a shower and a good rest. my neck hurts from the position I slept last night " rubbing the back of her neck

" you do need rest princess. you've gone through a lot " smiling " Linda " Called out to the lady who was talking to a young man

" coming," she said a few last words to him before running towards us " Dr Wilson?"

" Please take Riley to her room. surely you are hungry" Riley nodded in agreement " tell Linda whatever you would like to eat. Aiden come with me " he began walking away and Aiden followed behind him saying to Riley before he left

" rest well ok " smiling, he followed Wilson

" what is going on between you and my daughter," he asked when he was certain that they were beyond hearing

" Sir?" shocked at his question, he leaks his bottom lips " absolutely nothing sir "

"didn't you dare lie to me " He stopped walking? now they were standing, facing each other. " I am not blind. when you both arrived I saw the way she held on to you. and you are the person she asked for at the office. "

" We just grew close while we were together," lowering his head, trying to avoid eye contact

" Just close?"

" yes sir " he heard Wilson's laugh

" you think am a joke, don't you? you kissed her " Aiden yes fell wide open. how the fuck did he know that? he thought that there were no cameras in the engine room

" si...sir we. " he cut him off

" I just guess, didn't think I would be right " Aiden standing speechlessly in front of Wilson rubbed the back of his neck. he didn't want to deny, and he won't. they did kiss and why not, he loves her and won't care about the consequences at this point

" yes sir, we did " he lifts his head to look at Wilson in his eyes. Wilson responded by doing the most surprising thing. he smiled

" I see you have feelings for her"

" Sir?" shocked

" the confidence in your eyes says it all " he took a step closer covering the little space between them, placing his right hand on Aiden's shoulder " I was upset but I thought it though while in the office. Riley has never had a boyfriend. not because she wasn't pretty enough but because of her gift, it scares them and all of a sudden a good-looking guy who also has the same gift shows up in her life. It's understandable" Aiden could not believe what he was hearing. did He just say he was ok with it? This is an unusual thing for Wilson to do. something wasn't right, he was up to something, something that Aiden would not be pleased with " I love my daughter a lot and I don't want her to be unhappy "

" sir you are saying?...." he couldn't finish his sentence

" yes, that is what I am saying. and " he hesitates. Aiden knew it. here he comes with his original plan.

" I agree with Linda. Since my daughter likes you more than her father, it will be of great advantage to us. we will carry on with our plan and you will make sure that Riley stays in line " he leaned down to Aiden's ear. whispering " you know very well the consequences if things don't go as planned right " Aiden's heart dropped and landed somewhere in his stomach. he wanted to use him. he wanted to use him to control Riley. how can someone be so heartless

" ye...yes sir " Wilson pulled away with a victorious smile

" Good. now we both have what we want. don't we?"

" yes sir "

" sleep early tonight. we will run a few tests on you tomorrow morning" he instructed before leaving Aiden alone with a million thoughts running in his head.

" You must like him " Linda broke the silence between her and Riley as they walked to her room

" What?"

" Aiden. you like him. Wilson and I both know"

" oh no, it's not what you think," Riley said, trying to deny

" oh come on. I am not sightless "

" Truly. there is nothing" she still denied, remembering what Aiden said. she didn't want him to get punished for dating her

" whatever " she stopped in front of the only door in the entire hallway " here we are " looking at Riley before making way for her to open the door. " open it "

" oh " Riley reached for the handle, turned it and the door opened. she entered and Linda followed closing the door behind her " what the fuck " she whispered. Riley was thinking that Linda was taking her to her room but it wasn't her room. before she was in the most beautiful sitting room she have ever seen. it was small and just stunning. it only means one thing. it was an apartment inside the mountain " is..is this an apartment? " her eyes explored the room

" Yes. shocked?"

" no. impressed " with eyes wide open " give me a few minutes please" she spoke with an excited tone

" sure " Riley ran away leaving Linda who knew exactly what she was up to.

Exploring the house. A three-bedroom apartment and each room were breathtaking. she guessed that one of them would be Her father's because there was a small office at one corner of the room with books and papers on the table. getting to the kitchen the first thing she checked was the refrigerator and damn, it had everything

" your father filled it with everything you would like " Linda walked into the kitchen

" I can see "

" you must be excited about your father " The colours in Riley's face drained. she wasn't happy, and neither was she unhappy. she had mixed feelings. her father died two years ago and all of a sudden he shows up and turns out to be totally someone else. at this moment she didn't know what she was feeling. she needed time to understand what was going on

" I don't know. I don't know what I feel. " in a low tone " I need to take a shower. which one of the rooms is mine "

" The second on the right "

" My guess was right then " forcing a smile she was about to leave the kitchen when Linda asked

" what would you like to eat?"

" I don't know. anything nice " with that she left
