Chapter 18: Clearing The Air, Clearing The Heart's Concious

Walking up to his door. After a good three knocks he came to the dor. He really did look like crap. Having working so hard the last two days took a toll on him. He had a battle royal to get to tomorrow he really needed sleep. By the looks of it a proper meal. "Well you like shit." "Aw thanks honey you look beautiful too." Stepping aside from hanging on the door the fact that he was in his long shorts only wasn't helping her any. "You're an idiot you know that? For someone who's I.Q. is so high you really are dumb. Why the fuck would you do this to yourself? WITHING THREE DAYS NO LESS?!" "Now don't hold back sweetheart tell me how you really feel don't sugar coat for me now." Smirking to her with a wink crossing his arms.

"Cut the shit Gage I know damn well you're not eating and you haven't slept in days. You really think you have a shot if you don't actually get any rest? I just have to know do you hate me this much? Do you want to punish me this bad?" Tears threatening to fall. Coming up to her slowly. "You know damn well why I am doing this. Even though you want to argue with me you know my reasoning is right and that I have to do this. For us. For people to back and respect us. For us to be able to be together safely in both worlds here Tess. I love you more than anything this should tell you that." Placing her hand on his heart. "It only beats for you babe. Otherwise it was barely beating before you. I wasn't living before you Tess. This is not a punishment to you. Although I swear being apart like this has been the worse punishment for me."

Reaching out cupping her cheek. Looking in her eyes deeply. Coming down to talk in her ear in that low voice che loves so much. "You think you can come in here and be a hypocrite right now angel? Hmm? You haven't either. You haven't slept either. You have traitors in your walls who tell me things as well. Such as when you lack to care for yourself. You keep yourself away from me so I can't do it. Do you have any idea what that actually does to me it guts me like a sharp knife inside out." He growled the last part making her tighten her legs.

"I understand why you keeping your distance from me right now we did this to each other and I have to respect that. I have to own up to my part of the responsibility. Tessenia you know how sorry I am. You know how much I need you in my life. You know the lengths of how far I will go for you now. Please baby come home. Come back to where you belong." Gage was practically begging her. "It's not that simple." "But it is." "Really, so I suppose I should take some time and think about getting the taste slapped out of my mouth by your mother who is so disgusted as you was with the knowledge of me. How am I supposed to be ok when your mother is now against. You are the biggest mamas boy Gage how am I really supposed to be ok with that part?"

"I can't begin to apologize enough for that. She slapped the hell out of me as well. I' going to tell you the same thing I told her. "You know how important family is to this world and you go and tell your mama this. She's only taking it as good as you did Gage. How can I be sure you wont wake up one day and resent me for all of this. For bringing you into all of this? How do I know you are comfortable with going to bed with a soulless monster who's superpower is turning off her humanity right? Can you really be ok with that. This life will change you no matter what you think it does." "That doesn't mean that change has to be bad though babe." "Doesn't mean it's better either." "That's the thing Tessenia if I'm surrounded by family and you it is better. It's better than having to put up with the fake people my mother is always trying to get me to be around. I was miserable living the life she wants for me. I was dying Tessenia slowly but surely. You saved me. I need this. I need you." Gage told her wiping a slow tear coming down her face.

Feeling his heart break watching her. "Gage I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She started sobbing heavily into his chest as he held her tight. "I know baby girl. I know." "I never meant for us to get this far and not tell you. I was just so fucking happy. I was feeling. I was actually like having feelings and I was a coward to lose you to tell you the truth. I'm so sorry." "I'm sorry too. I said things out of spite and anger and that was wrong. I didn't mean it. I was just shocked and a little scared also. Scared of so many things at once and I feel like a coward for staying away from you for so long." Holding her tighter before pulling her away to get a better look at her.

"Why don't we just put this behind us just for tonight. Tonight just be Gage and Tess? I called in your favorite from the Chinese place right after we got off the phone. Eat with me." Nodding her head along following him to the living room where food was spanned out everywhere to make a plate. Putting on White Chicks the movie for them to laugh both loving Terry Crews. After awhile they got to looking at each other both missing this. She never felt more on the edge of a cliff to roll either way in her life. He couldn't get over the fact she was right here in front of him.

About six months ago my whole world changed. You know what I think I knew it too. See this beautiful, amazing woman bumped into me at a club my friends drug me to against my better judgement. "She's shown me things, and I have felt things. Things I never knew possible. She is so much stronger than I will ever be. She's like a phoenix this woman rising up from the ashes that were meant to end her. Almost alone she has risen all the way to the top and I could not be more proud and scared for her. Scared because her flame is the brightest thing this world has ever seen and the more times I fuck up with her I see that flame go down more and more. "I look up and idolize this man. He taught me so many things but the best thing that sticks with me right now is when he asked me if I knew what the biggest deadliest weapon in the world was. I was lost for words. It couldn't have been a bomb because you can rebuild. Couldn't be a gun it runs out of bullets. It was a blade or knife thing because they get dull you know. He looked me in the eyes and said it was words. Words are the most lethal weapons in this world. I looked at him in shock for a moment like this man really just said words." Tessenia looking at him hanging on every word Gage was saying.

"Yup it was words. See words have the most power out of everything in this world. They can make your whole day, year, month. They can make them great or sad. They can give you strength and they can break you in ways you never could imagine. The stay with you for the rest of your life. You will always hear them repeat in your head rather you want them to or not, doesn't matter because they will be there. Negative and hurtful words can hit you beyond skin deep. They will scare you in ways you will never heal. Bruises, gun shot wounds all those will leave a mark or a scar but they heal. Hateful hurtful words do not. They make us weak and break. They also help us rise and piece us back together in ways we could never build ourselves to be. This is how we get stronger being able to piece ourselves back after getting broken."

"I am sorry for the hurtful things I have ever said or done onto you and I pray you can one day forgive me. This wise woman once told me you should always forgive those who trespass onto you for if you don't they keep a certain power over you. If you can't forgive them they keep that power and a piece of you they don't deserve to have. So forgiveness is a super power not everyone can wield it at first it takes time to control it but in the end it gives you the power back you need to be whole again." "She sounds smart this woman of yours maybe you just caught her on a good day."

"No she's beyond smart. She is so brilliant in so many ways. Never having the choice but to be though. I've been doing so much thinking lately as I stayed away from here for a while. I thought about how tired she must be. How exhausted she must be having to be strong for so long for so many. The things she must do to protect so many. I am scared her soul must getting weary and in need of rest. I wanted to come to her sooner. Let her know she could lean on me to know it was ok to give me some of her burden just even for a moment to get just a little piece. It has to be so hard being what so many expect you to be, always being who they need you to be not as much as being herself. I just wanted to let her know that she's not alone and she has someone she can just be her with. I keep blowing it though. I mean she has this amazing big heart and keeps forgiving me. I'm just scared she will wake up and realize she can do so much better." Gage told her looking her in the eye.

"There is nothing better than you Gage. I know I've looked." Winking to him. Making them both chuckle softly. "There's you. You are better than me Angel." Looking at each other in appreciation didn't last too long when he smashed his lips against hers. Meeting him back with the same energy he was giving back first starting to sweet and slow than turning into a passionate rush and need. Pulling her onto his lap her hands cupping between his jaw line and neck. His hand going behind her neck meeting her head and her hair. The other one gripping her waist as she started to grind and rock back and forth on him to get any type of friction they both were craving.

"Please angel." He begged her softly. Nodding back to him he quickly lifted her up wrapping her legs around his waist and carrying her into their room.

Setting her down in front of the bed. Ripping off their clothes of each other nothing seemed to be moving fast enough. It took a while to pry his arm off her Quietly getting into their closet grabbing an old dress for work and a pair of black heels she quickly got dressed and walked into the kitchen. Making Gage a small breakfast, coffee and a note. She couldn't just walk out without saying anything. Wondering what to say thinking about how badly she wanted to come home than seeing the picture on his fridge of them and his parents.

Maddison. Taking a deep breath. She knew she couldn't come back without actually apologizing to his mother. Still not being able to forgive herself for not fessing up about all of this sooner. Grabbing the pen writing some things down and leaving out the door locking it behind her. Gage shot right up after he heard a car leave looking at the empty spot next to him. 'No, no,no,no. Please No.' His heart was aching thinking of her leaving after just having her in his grasp. Walking in the kitchen he perked up when he saw what she left him. Looking at the food and the drink. His heart smiled until he read the note. 'Last night was amazing. I forgive you Gage. I am just so sorry. I need some more time to forgive myself. I just need a little more time. Loving you always Tess.' Smiling to himself. 'It's a start at least. We're going to be ok.' Taking a bite moaning into it missing the taste of her cooking. 'You better be ready babe, I'm coming. Time is one thing not on your side.'

Getting in the special elevator Axel was sneaking up to go speak with the guys. "Morning Ax." "Morning gorgeous." Staring at her for a second longer than normal he smirked to himself. "How's Gage?" Axel asked her looking forward. "Sorry?" She was confused by the question. "You know Gage your man. My cousin. I mean from all the glowing your doing and the I had great sex last night written all over your face I'm assuming you must have seen him this morning plus you smell like him. I need time that's the note I left him next to his breakfast." Looking down now ashamed of herself. "I believe that. I know how hard it is I mean hell it's only human to be our own worse enemy. Tessenia it's ok. Everything will be ok. You need to know though that you can't forgive yourself on your own. You won't either. You need to repair that bond with him and then you'll be able to move on. Trust me. It's time to go home to your real home. Everything else will fall into place." "I can't yet." "Because maybe his not the only bond I need to fix." She snapped back. Looking at him. "Sorry. I didn't mean to snap." Looking at her feeling sad now. "Aunt Maddie?" Nodding her head. "Maybe you guys too. I mean I never got to say sorry to you guys as well. I mean you all took me in loving me like a sister. We trusted each other in little secrets and I never told you guys either. I brought all of you into this world and it's my fault. Gage doing this to himself. The way you guys got dragged into this world it's all my fault. It was selfish of me. It could have all been avoided had I just been honest with you. Now you guys will never be normal again." Tear softly rolled down her cheek.

Taking his hand and thumb to remove it. One hand on her waist. "You will always be like my little sister. I don't care what your past is or who you have to be. I don't give a flying fuck what title you got or think you are that will always be your first title for me. I understand why things are the way they are right now. You need to understand that we men. We four grown ass men made this choice. We had every opportunity to step back, bow out and walk away. There will be nothing normal about our life if you are not in it Tessenia. You really are the most precious flower. Angelo was right. You plant yourself in peoples heart like a seed and you just keep growing and growing inside it. I forgive you if you need to hear it. Just don't keep away from us anymore. Gage. Gage needs you as much as you need him. As much as I need him. Please hurry up, do what you need to do and go home Tess. Aint your soul and heart tired yet?" Pushing herself in his chest as he wrapped both arms around her. Breathing deep to calm herself down and fix herself just before the doors open. All the guys starring at them walking out and coming forward.

One look at her and Jaxon was smiling widely. "How's Gage doing our sweet little flower?" He winked to her. "Shut up. It's weird you two know these things." Shaking her head as they all laughed at her. "Lincoln my office please." Still laughing. "Yes boss what can I start for you?" "First cancel all my things I'm leaving for the day I have something I need to take care of. Did you pick up the three things I asked you too?" "No but they got delivered just before you got here. Alright well go give this one to Axel I already spoke to him" Lincoln smile softly to her. "Are you leaving now?" "Yeah. Wish me luck?" "For what it's worth Tess. I think you're an amazing person for doing this. I just don't think you should be apologizing for being who you are. I think this is sweet though not something I ever thought to see you doing." Lincoln laughed at her making her roll her roll her eyes. 'Me either bud, me either.'

Popping into his work place everyone was shocked to see such a famous person walk through their doors. Sure they were a big decent company but no where near her status. "Can I help you Ms. Moretti?" The female receptionist asked in a stutter. "I am here to see Mr. Vincent Damico can you please show me the way?" "O-of course ma'am. Just down this hallway third door on the right." "Thank you." Tess smiled widely carrying her edible arrangement basket to look like superhero theme. Taking a deep breath she knocked to hear a soft come in. Here goes nothing.

"Tessenia, what brings your gorgeous presence to my office?" Vince smiling widely getting up to greet her in a hug. Lifting the edible arrangement to him. "What's this for?" "IT's an apology. I never told you to your face that I'm sorry for all the trouble I have caused." "Nope going to shut that shit down real quick. Tessenia you are not doing this with me. Alright. I choose this. You had your reasons for doing what you did. I have my reasons for doing what I do. We are all humans and adults we can only blame ourselves for our choices and no one else. You never forced yourself or anything like that on me. No one held no gun to my head I did this and no one else. You understand me. You NEVER have to apologize to me for being who you are or have to be. Not with me ok. We're good you and I. I've missed you; I wish you came around sooner than this though. I missed those hugs." Winking to her making her blush.

"I'm still sorry though." "I know. You know every time Gage has come to us and you guess have had some weird thing going on. You know I ALWAYS had your back right? Doesn't matter what it was. I was on your side." "I appreciate that." "Yeah Axel and I both always going to be #TEAMTESSA." Making her laugh even harder with his hand fisted proudly in the air with that dork smile. "Well I thank the GREAT MORETTI for blessing me and my office with her presence now as soon as you leave I will be the talk of the office so thank you for that. I bet I got shit ton of texts and emails right now. Boss probably going to come suck up to me right now. Thanks a whole bunch Alderman." Vince used his mocking voice as she left.

Walking to the next building was one she knew would be harder. Walking up to the huge law firm. Every one noticed her. The receptionist choked and spit out his drink. "Ms. Moretti what can I do for you?" "I was actually looking for one of your workers. Could you please direct me to Mr. Ace Torres's office?" "U-ugh yeah he's on the thirty-eight floor." "Thank you. Smiling and nodding politely to all those who were rudely starring in shock to her presence. After getting off the elevator she came up to Ace's assistant. "Ms. Moretti how can I help you?" He smiled widely to her.

"Is your boss free I have something for him and was hoping to have a small word as well." Picking up the phone. "Mr. Torres you have a delivery and a visitor who's asking for a moment of your time are you available?" Hanging up the phone the young man opened his hand to gesture her to go right on in. Nodding and thanking him taking a deep breath she knocked twice and opened the door.

Still looking down signing some papers and making some notes. Holding the edible super hero arrangement to her side. "Hey Ace." His head snapped up from the shock of her voice. "Well as I live and breath. You my love are the last person I would have betted on to walk through that door." Standing up to give her a hug. "What's this about. Don't get me wrong I love it." Ace said told her plucking some grapes off it. "It's an offering. It's my way of apologizing to you about the mess I have cause you. The inconvenience it brought to your life and so on." "Tessenia I know how hard it is to come clean about certain things. I understand why you did it. I forgive you for holding back so much even though I thought we was closer than that." He teased her.

"You know we all know how much of a toll this has taken on Gage. I know though it has taken just as big if not bigger toll on you. I'm sorry we weren't showing up for you the way we should have. I know how heart broke you were. I know how much I have messed things up with us our relationship. I want you to know how close I actually feel to you Tessenia. I really feel like we are good friends now. I mean you grew on me so damn quick. I feel like such an asshole how I handled us in the begging. I know how good you are not just for Gage but for all of us. You really do turn boys into men for the better. I am sorry Tess. As your friends too we should have been there for you as well."

Tear threatening to fall. "You know Tessenia six months ago I was a bit of a stereo type I guess you can say. I thought I needed to be with people who were up to my standards now the bad part of that is they weren't what you called realistic standards. I mean I was never going to find the right girl for me with that criteria I had which I hate to admit was much like the standards Maddison had for all of us. You come popping in and drag us all through these crazy ass places I would have never brough myself to ever go into on my own and I loved it. I had the best time with great people. You made me grow up Tess. I will always be thankful for that. I don't ever want to keep away from you like this again ok. I don't ever want to lose you from my life. I think that's why we all joined up like we did. It wasn't just us having Gages back because he's our boy. It's us showing you we got you too. We here for you Tess. We plan on staying here for you." Hugging him tightly sniffling to him.

"I don't know what to do with you I've never seen you have emotions like this before. What do I do. Now would be a good time to helpful." "Shut up." Wiping her eye. "I thought this would have been harder in a different way. Thank you Ace. I am sorry though." "We know it's ok." "I need to go; I won't stay to far away this time." "I'll see you tonight than?" "Yeah I'll be there. It's going to be a long hard night." Shaking her head walking out the door as a bunch of heads snapped away quickly. An older man came rushing up to her in a some what calm like matter. Ace popping up at his door looking at everyone like they lost their minds.

"Ms. Moretti what a pleasure to have you in the building. How are you." "I'm well thank you." Tess asked looking up to Ace for help not knowing who this man is. Ace shrugging to her than crossing his arms watching his boss with interest. He never even seen him here after having about forty-five floors to this building. "I never thought to see you here. I thought for sure you were still with Brooks firm. Are you shopping around for new representation?" "Absolutely not. I am happy with my legal counsel. I think your reading to much into this. I was just here visiting a very dear friend of mine. I believe you are familiar with Ace Torres." "Yes, indeed. Very good man that one. Works hard as well. Well should you ever need anything please don't be a stranger to come calling." "Thank you. See you tonight Torres." Nodding to her with a smile as she left leaving everyone's mouth hanging open as he shut and locked his door taking his phone off the hook.

This was the last place with two boxes in her hands. This was going to be the hardest part. I need to hurry and get to the training grounds and change and get ready. Taking a deep breath raising her hand to the door. *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*. After a few minutes the man opened the door with a huge smile. "It's so good to see you child. Well come on in here let me get ahold of you." Sean told her embracing her tightly. "We miss you; you know?" "Sure I bet." "Watch it now I'm serious. What's this?" Taking the boxes. "I know you guys had your anniversary, last week I didn't get a chance to bring this to you because it arrived late."

Opening it up in the living room the first big box had two huge plush blankets one of a collage of their family pictures through out the years, and one of just Sean and Maddison through out the years. The other box had matching throw pillows. Hearing the loud gasp as Maddison came into the living room seeing the blankets and pillows splayed out on the couches for a better view. "They're beautiful Tess. Thank you." Maddison told her running her hands on them. I wanted to give you something personal that I knew you didn't have. I also was hoping to speak to you both." Sean looked at Maddison with a daring look to his wife. "Of course baby girl just sit on down." With a smile he welcomed her into the living room moving aside their new lovely gifts.

"I wanted to formally apologize to you both. For everything. I never meant to harm anyone in any type of way. I never thought Gage would do any of this." Choking out a little. "Maddison was right when she said this was all my fault." "No." "No." Both of them told her flatly at the same time. Looking confused at them now. "I was wrong Tessenia. You were right. This is not your fault. Gage is a grown ass man who makes his own choices. We are also equally as guilty as neither one of us ever told him of our own involvement with you father and honestly it was so hypocritical of me to shove all that hate on you. I am sorry Tessa. I should have taken my anger straight to the source which was Gage like you said. Although I am disappointed you holding back from us this whole time. I understand. I need my son Tess. I know you both are a package deal. I do love you to your core sweet girl. Our heart just bleed for you sometimes. We are ok though. It will take me a while to bounce back from this. From you two and your choices." Maddie told her flatly.

"We know it's your guy's life and you will go down the roads that you know are right for you because nobody else can make those decisions for you. We just want you to better with your life than we got it's every parents dream to see their kids be more than what they were. I will tell you the same thing I told Gage. We gave you guys life so you can live it, so get out there and live it. The only thing we ask is you let us stay apart of it as well and know when we step it in it's with good intentions. We love you both little Alderman." "I know I love you guys too. I appreciate everything you have done and the time we have spent."

Looking up to Maddison. "You know where I come from, how I'm raised. I would never take him from you. I would never stand in the way of family." "I know honey. I know. I just needed the reality of knowing that I needed to step back and let Gage be Gage the way he needs to be and not how I hoped he would. My life style is not good for him. The only one who can answer that is Gage. I'm learning to be ok with it. Maybe I need to take some lessons from your father. Angelo seems to have a good handle on it."

"Yeah sure he does. It'd be like a whole blind leading the blind situation going on there. I need to go to the grounds and get ready." Standing up and hugging them tightly. "Tess I know that Gage is going to go through the great lengths to be with you. I just have to ask. What about you? Is this what you want? If the shoe was on the other foot would you be going the distance for Gage?" Sean asked scratching the back of his head.

"I would do anything for Gage. I don't remember the last time I was asked if this was what I wanted besides when I was slightly younger and Angelo and I was talking before graduating. This is the life I was trained for. It's all I know it wasn't until I met Gage I even thought about if I wasn't who I am what would I be doing? In reality I would be dead I think. I would definitely not be here. The road that could have been is a lot darker than the one I've been traveling. Yes Sean this is the life I want. I want Gage to be in it. I'm sorry to you for that though since you fought so hard to keep him away from all this." "Everything happens for a reason Tess." Maddie told her as she shut the door sweetly behind her. Getting in the car and walking into her changing room looking in the mirror at herself.
