Oblivious

I went back to my room. I took a shower and decided to play the violin.

I got entrapped in the music letting myself get lost in the beautiful rhythms I am composing.

"What did you do with the half a million dollars you took out of your account, Adeline?" Brittany interrupts me.

My jerk of a bank account manager alerted her too. God, I am going to get that jackass fired.

I took the violin off my shoulder and placed it on the bed with the bow.

"None of your business Brittany," I sharply brushed her off. I'm mad she thinks she has the right to question me about that.

"If you are here for my hair dryer take it and leave. So I can resume playing my violin." I rudely said.

She close her eyes for some seconds and snit in a breath to cool off the anger that was steaming on her face. "I don't need it. I just used mom's and I have ordered one anyway." She tried to say calmly to me but I could hear the crack of anger in her tone.

"Okay then get out," I raised my tone at her.

"How come you ended up at my fiancé's Orchestra's Music theater? When you are supposed to be at the dance school for the interview I secured for you," She backs out. Her angry tone matched mine.

I smirked "Oh, your fiancé told you I joined his Orchestra."

"I wonder what you did to get in," she eyed me with an accusing gaze.

"Well, the Principal violinist quit and I took her Job," I say.

"What did you do Adeline?" She trots closer to me whilst her eyes dip into my eyes in a perpetuating gaze like she is fishing out the truth from them.

"I didn't do anything, stop being dramatic," I tear my gaze from her and fixed it on my violin.

"Oh, so she happens to quit the very day you decided to make an appearance?"

I shrugged.

She paused and her eyes widened as she has come to some sort of realization. "You threatened or bribe her into quitting, didn't you?"

I snap my chin high. I didn't deny it.

She shakes. "How could you do this to Naomi, she has dedicated a decade of her life to the orchestra!"

Oh, that stupid bitch is called Naomi.

"How could you do this? Steal the position she has worked so hard to achieve. That was a bitch move, Adeline. And so cruel and so inconsiderate." She expresses her disapproval like a moral scolder calling me out for my wrongdoings. it such an irony is coming from her.

I snort. "Wow, it's very amusing that this lecture is coming from likes like you. What I did was a bitch move says a lawyer who is defending a douchebag rapist maniac." I bite back.

She winced. "Point taken."

"What did you use the half million dollars for? Bribe Naomi and the composers to get the position?" She deducted wrongly.

"False. Wow, you underestimate the integrity of your fiancé and the Orchestra's composers," I am upset she thinks so low of William.

Her face burned with remorse and instant regret

How dare she see William in a bad light.

She doesn't deserve him. I deserve him. I will never think low of him.

"I may have bribed Naomi but I wouldn't go as far as bribe William and the composers. I auditioned for the position. And I got in because I am so talented. And you know it. "

After chasing that bitch Naomi away, the next day I showed up at the theater and played the most difficult piece in the entire history of classical music. I executed it perfectly without a fumble. The composers had no second thoughts. I was awarded the role.

"You give all that huge amount of money to Naomi. That's crazy." She had to make a come back She never wants to back out of an argument till she wins.

"It's my monthly allowance. I will spend it how I see fit. None of your fucking business." I beseech at her.

She cringes.

"You are complaining I strip off Naomi of her decade of hard work. But I didn't let her go empty-handed. Half a million is a ridiculous amount for compensation. Double of what she actually deserves. She is going to be well off than she was before. I have been very generous. It's a win-win situation. She is richer now than she was before."

I pick up the violin and placed it back on my shoulder to hint to her we are done with the conversation.

She gave up on the argument with an upset look on her face. She hates losing arguments with me.

"I don't want us to fight Adeline," She draws near to me and squeezed my free shoulder. " I thought you love dancing. I secured a Ballet instructor job in a prestigious ballet school for you. That would have also made daddy proud. If making daddy proud is the reason for joining the orchestra."

Well, that is part of the reason. But the main reason darling is to get close to William so l could snatch him from you. I said in my head.

"Brittany, I realized it going to put a lot of stress on my injured leg if I have to dance to demonstrate to my student,"

She nods comprehending the point I am making. "But I could have easily gotten you into the orchestra without you playing dirty to get in. Yes, I am becoming ruthless like mom and dad but I don't want you to follow the same path. Adeline. That's why I am upset." Her eyes laid her concern for my morals when I looked into them. It made me feel slightly guilty.

"I am off to work, see you later," She said and strut to the door. Her words of concern lingers on for me to ponder over it as questioned myself about my actions.

But damn I don't want to feel guilty.

"I did you a favor anyway," I blurted out to her before she could churn the doorknob open.

She averts her gaze back on me.

"Naomi seems too close to William. I think she likes him." I said to kill any pity she feels for that bitch.

She jerks her head back. "What do you mean?"

"It's a good thing I got rid of that Naomi bitch. She was all over William at the Orchestra. She wants William for herself."

"Maybe you read things wrong, Adeline. William and Naomi have been friends for years. It's pretty normal they are affectionate with each other. " Brittany said in the defense of that bitch who is after her man but she is too oblivious to that.

I shrugged. "He is your man. Believe whatever you want to believe."

It going to be a lot easy to steal William from her right under her nose without her realizing it happened.

Saturday is my first orchestra rehearsal with William. I am going to make my first move. And Brittany will be so oblivious by the time she realizes William is mine.
