Unfair

Gabimaru opens his eyes confused because he doesn't remember him going to sleep. Gabi looks around to know where he's at and he realizes that he's back in his dorm room.

( Since when did I get here? The last thing I remember was that girl kicking me in the balls.)

As Gabi was about to sit up gentle hands pushed him back down onto the bed. " Don't tell me this is your new routine."

Gabi faced the person who was talking to him and saw that it was Shoko once he made eye contact with the girl he quickly averted his eyes. " Me being an absolutely useless piece of shit? I guess so. " he sarcastically said.

Shoko knew that the boy was upset with himself for how he got injured again but she couldn't bear to see him in this state. " You need to give yourself more credit. Makima informed the school how you saved her and took down a special grade."

( she said that? She probably wanted to give me the credit for not blowing her spot up. That sneaky girl.)

Gabi was deeply absorbed in his thoughts and since Shoko took notice of that she took this chance to ruffle up his wavy white hair to get him out of his sour mood. " GABIMARUUU LIGHTEN UP!" She climbed on top of the bed and started to tickle him everywhere to get a reaction.

Gabi started laughing hysterically unable to remove the girl from him. " STOPPP. SHOKO PLEASE!" His laughter was getting louder as Shoko's laughter was combined with his covering the room with their voices.

Shoko didn't stop and she increased her movements. The tickle war was getting serious and the two teenagers were in their little world until it was interrupted. " Umm. We will come back another time." a voice grabbed their attention from the two teens on the bed.

Shoko and Gabi didn't think anything was wrong until they saw the position that Shoko was in. From an outside point of view, you would have thought Shoko was riding Gabi but the truth was that she was tickling the boy. She hurried up and got off of Gabi and fixed herself but on the other hand, Gabi sat up on the bed focusing his sights on the two figures at the door. Gojo and Makima were at the entrance of Gabi's room, Gojo was finding the situation amusing while Makima remained quiet and emotionless.

" What are you two doing here?" Gabi asks with an irritated expression on his face.

Gojo was being dramatic by having his hand grip his shirt where his heart is located, " You broke me, Gabi. Why do you have to be so mean to me?"

Gabimaru was sitting there cringing at the fact he witnessed that and Shoko was shaking her head in disbelief wondering why she was friends with Gojo in the first place. Before Gojo could speak Shoko noticed how Makima had been silent this whole time she probably guessed that Makima wanted to speak with Gabi alone so Shoko grabbed Gojo's wrist and walked him out of the room.

" Shoko what are…"

Shoko stops him from talking by placing her free hand over his mouth and continues walking him out, "See you later Gabi, and rest well," she sends him a warm smile, " Goodbye Makima." she sends her goodbyes toward them and leaves the room.

The room was silent Makima was still standing by the door looking everywhere but at Gabi's eyes as Gabi was sitting up relaxing his back on the headboard focusing his sights on the plain wall instead of looking in Makima's direction.

(I rather train until I puke my guts out instead of being in this awkward situation. Why is she just standing there? Hold up, why am I nervous? I can feel my ass hair getting all twisted up. )

" Sorry…" she murmured but Gabi still heard her.

Gabi finally turned his head to face Makima's eyes and he could see how uneasy she looked. The red-haired girl's body was stiff although she was looking into Gabi's eyes it felt like she wasn't there. Gabi's forehead started to crease, not understanding why the girl in front of him was tense.

( Is this the same girl who kicked me in the balls? I don't understand Makima at all. People would describe her as cold-hearted and expressionless but every time we were around each other her facial expression would always betray her. Well since she's taking her sweet time trying to talk I will speak up.)

" Shoko told me you basically gave me the credit, why is that? You were scared I might tell the higher-ups about your abilities?"

( I might sound somewhat of a badass questioning her without stuttering but truthfully I was really not ready for her next move. )

The girl shook her head, " You would have killed it without me butting in and I'm not afraid of you 'snitching' on me because I know you won't."

( She always thinks she has the upper hand. )

" And why are you so sure" Gabi raised his eyebrow

Makima finally took her first steps to go over to Gabi's bed to sit on the edge, " Because I know you won't. You are not really fond of the higher-ups since they were involved in the Gojo clan kicking you out."

( This girl….)

" Anyway, I was here to say sorry about your private area but I guess you're all better since I saw you and Shoko were about to engage in some…"

" HUH?!!!" the boy got off his headboard, " Stop talking nonsense !"

Makima turned her head to face the panicking boy, "Nonsense? But I saw her on top of you."

Sweat started running down his face, " She was just tickling me nothing more." He frustratedly ruffled his hair and this made Makima crack a small smile on her face without her knowing, she was amused by the way Gabi overreacted about something so small. When Gabi raised his head he saw something that people would kill to see and that was Makima smiling he finally stopped being dramatic and was stunned by the sight in front of him.

(She's…)

Makima was clueless about why he became motionless, " Is there something on my face?...why are…"

" You smiled," Gabi blurted out all of a sudden the two switched places and Makima became motionless while Gabi was smiling at the girl, " You should smile more it suits you better"

Makima slowly raised one of her hands to feel the smile she wore on her face and lightly moved her fingers on her lips to feel her smile. Despite their bickering, Makima prefers spending time with Gabi than any of the other sorcerers. Their time together was different than the others and she felt like she could loosen up with him but she didn't know how to and even if she could she couldn't because it would cause more harm than good. Deep down in Makima's head, she knew she had to distance herself from Gabi because it would be dangerous, she could not have things that regular beings experience because she was different than an actual human being in her mind she knew that she was superior to anyone and she has to keep that same mindset to continue being one of the strongest sorcerers.

" I have to go. Ms.Saito will be here soon" Makima got up from the bed and walked to the exit.

( Ms.Saito? Doesn't she mean her mother ?)

Gabi tilted his head wondering why she was addressing her mom like that, "Your mom?"

Before Makima exited the room, She looked over her shoulder, " We don't have that type of relationship." and she hurried out of the room.

" I know I always say this but she is so usual. I can never really understand her. What is your deal? Why are you like this?" Gabi had many more questions he wanted to ask but it was meaningless.

Makima pov

As she entered her room she saw her mother sitting on her bed with her right leg crossing her left impatiently waiting for her daughter's arrival.

" What took you so long? This isn't like you being late, " Her mother spoke sternly to her waiting for Makima to answer.

" I was checking on my classmate."

Ms.Saito scoffed at her, " Since when do you check on other well beings? They are not important to you but speaking on your classmate I had heard you been close to that failure of a boy who got kicked out of the godforsaken clan."

Makima unknowingly clenched her fists together once she heard what her mother said but she didn't know why her body reacted that way.

( Gabi a failure? That's not in his vocabulary )

" I hope you're not going soft Makima after all we worked for," Ms.Saito sat up from the bed walked to her daughter, and glared right into her eyes, " We will get our spot back on the top three clans in the sorcerer world. I will not let you get close to anyone, especially someone who has Gojo blood running in their veins. Stay away from him and only see him when it's necessary, nothing more." Ms. Saito gathered her belongings, " Goodbye, Makima." She left her daughter without caring about the girl's feelings

( she always used to scold me and it never made me feel any type of way but why did this time feel different? Is it because she mentioned him? But what does he have to do with this? I knew I had to distance myself sooner or later from him but why do I have an unsettled feeling about that? He makes me feel like an…. Human being. He treats me like a regular person. He doesn't treat me like a tool or royalty. He always speaks his mind around me)

She remembered how he smiled at her, being surprised that he was able to see her smile. Makima placed her hand on her lips, "Life is so unfair. I finally felt happy once in my life and now I have to leave it behind."
