"Congratulations Vanya… you entered"
Vanya's golden eyes widened in surprise, she had received an acceptance letter to the most prestigious school in the entire town, the "Black Rose Academy" which was incredibly difficult to enter, and although it has always been her biggest dream to go there, the rarest thing was that she didn't remember having even applied so… How come she had been accepted? What was going on?
...
"Kaira… wait, let me explain this...I didn't apply" Vanya hurried to explain to her best friend but Kaira's face was calm and didn't show surprise.
"I know that Vanya" after some seconds in silence she answered
"What?"
"I ask your mom to do it"
When Levannya heard his friend's words she stand up furiously, Kaira had NEVER commented about it or asked for her opinion and that makes her angry.
"How can you decide that for me?"
"Vanya..."
Kaira was surprised to see her friend's face full of anger and sadness, she had never seen her like this before but at that moment she did not regret what she had done. This was the last chance for her friend to get into the school she always wanted to go to and Kaira will never be an obstacle again to Levannya.
"WHY?... Why don't you ever listen to me?"
Levannya ask again with a big middle in his throat, she didn't wait for her reply, and took her bag and that admission letter and walked away from her as fast as her legs allow, and her eyes were full of tears.
She was angry and hurt but at the worst, she feels betrayed, Levannya didn't want to go to that absurd school anymore, not since she found out about how much she had to pay for the monthly fees, besides, she didn't want to be separated from her friends, so how Kaira didn't understand that? Without even paying attention to where she was going Levannya arrived at a fountain where people used to go to make a wish, the place where she met Kaira for the first time when they were kids.
…
A soft, wistful smile settled on her lips, she sat down on the bench that had been placed next to the fountain where people usually go to ask wishes, she stood there looking at the moving water and then at the admission letter in her hand.
"Now, what am I supposed to do?"
Levannya let out a long exhausted sigh, she closed her eyes for a moment leaving her hand on her forehead trying to contain the tears that were already beginning to flow down her cheeks.
"Here you go, my lady"
A tall, quite attractive man, with long red hair, pale skin, a good work body, and those enigmatic purple eyes, that came out of nowhere, came to her and offered his handkerchief. The man was wearing a long brown coat and a hat that covered his face.
Levannya got surprised when she heard his voice and she got a little scared when she saw him next to her because he was a stranger and had literally come from who knows where but she never heard the steps of him approaching her.
"Thank you so much…" Levannya accept that handkerchief but she was wondering who that strange man could be.
The beautiful girl with blonde and golden eyes look continuously at the other making that man feel a little nervous, she was a little confused because in that small town there was no one she didn't know or that’s what she thought but in all of her years living there life she never sees the man in front of her.
"Is something wrong miss? Shouldn't you be jumping for joy?"
"What?"
The strange man pointed somewhat embarrassed at the admission letter that she still had in her hand, Levannya looked at it and let out a soft laugh.
"Yes I should...but it's not really something that I was hoping for"
"I understand… so I guess it must have been terrible news"
"It's not so terrible but it is painful... knowing that the person who was always there to support you.... now wants you far from her life"
"Mmm… Maybe it's not like that"
"What?"
"People do a lot of crazy things to each other for the person they love, maybe you can't see it now but try to imagine that you were in the other person's position, would you still be mad if you understood that?"
Vanya remembered how she told Kaira about the school and her dreams if they could study there, also how much they studied to apply for high school but in the end, they didn't end the application...
Kaira had always blamed herself for missing that opportunity but Vanya could never blame her for something like that.
She squeezed her hands feeling guilty, maybe if she had explained to Kaira that she decided not to go to that school because of the money, her friend wouldn't have blamed herself all that time.
"I wouldn't…" she whispered to herself.
Without thinking twice, Levannya got up ready to look for her friend, she wiped her tears with the handkerchief that stranger had extended to her, but when she tried to return it, the man had disappeared. At what point had he left that she hadn't noticed?
"What a strange sir…"
After the disappearance of that man she felt chills all over his body, thinking that he could have been a ghost, she ran back to the cafeteria where she left Kaira.
That man watched the young girl in the shadows of a nearby alley, a big smile could be seen on his lips as he walked away from that fountain.
…
Vanya arrived at the cafeteria but her friend was no longer there, she ran out again searching the places they used to visit together until she finally found her going to her house.
"KAIRA!" she yelled at her feeling her eyes fill with tears again.
The silver-haired girl turned to see her friend with those red and swollen eyes that burst into tears again as she ran towards her friend.
Being close to each other they hugged tightly allowing themselves to cry in each other's arms.
"You will always…be my only best friend….you know that, right?" Vanya tried to speak between that sea of tears pressing her hands to the body of the other.
"I know, and you know that you can always count on me no matter what happens I will always be there"
Kaira wiped the tears from her cheeks and brought her forehead together with a smile letting the evening twilight wash away those emotions of sadness and separation…with the last rays of the sun.
…
"Vanya, have you packed everything, honey?"
A woman with beautiful brown hair and blue eyes was crossing off a list of things for her daughter to bring while her husband prepared the last meal they would enjoy with Levannya.
"I'm on…it" she answered from her room as she struggled to close the last suitcase she would be carrying.
When she managed to close it, she lay down on her bed looking at the ceiling of her room, after that she looked at her desk, her closet, her dressing table, she would miss everything and even more the warmth that her family always give to her.
She didn't understand why, despite being only thirty minutes from her house, she had to live there for the next three years of school… she had never been separated from her family or friends… and that scared her a little.
She discarded all the negative thoughts of her mind and she got up with her suitcase in hand carrying it to the first door, she observed her small and comfortable room for the last time letting a sigh leave her lips and giving a whispered farewell to her room in the air.
"CONGRATULATIONS!"
When she got off her mother and her father had thrown a kind of colored paper at her making her laugh while her best friends Kaira and Debian were also there tapping to congratulate her.
They prepare a small goodbye party for her, she feels like the time had passed really quickly, the rest of her holidays were chaotic for her between everything she had to prepare for the school, the packing, and more... but not everything was bad when she went with her parents to pay the registration fee to the school they say that they didn't have to pay anything since Levanya had got a full scholarship for being one of the top ten students with the highest average.
She wouldn't have to pay a penny to the school with the condition that she would maintain her good grades or raise them.
The Darleen family was in shock, Levanya didn't understand why they had supported her so much, however, she was happy, because thanks to her scholarship her parents would not be overwhelmed by the stress of keeping money for monthly payments.
With the money they were going to pay the school, her parents bought her a spare uniform since the first one had also been given to her by the school, and they also bought her two new dresses, one for some event or dance that could be held in the school and another to be more comfortable.
Even though her father was just a viscount, he always save his money and tried to give everything to his family, and since Levannya was his only child, of course, he worked harder to give her the best of everything.
"You didn't have to do all this for me” Levannya hugs his parents with a smile.
"Nonsense… we won't be able to see you for a long time and we want you to always remember this day" Her mom gave her a big hug and placed a kiss on her forehead.
After her mom release her, Kaira was the next to hug her tightly, wishing her good luck and asking her to have fun at all times.
Immediately, her friend Debian joined the hug and with a single "We’ll miss you shorty" he ruffled her hair laughing a little at Levannya's reaction who hated being reminded of her short stature.
Her father was the last to approach her, he just asked her to be careful and always look forward, he knew that many might try to embarrass her daughter for not being from a noble family with great status but levannya didn't care about things like that, he loved her parents more than anything else and things like money were completely absurd to her.
"Well, it's time to eat!" Vanya yelled in excitement holding back the tears in her eyes.
…
The meal was entertaining and full of laughter, everyone enjoyed that moment like it was another day of their lives, they did jokes and you could feel the warmth of a family among all.
Of course, that moment could not last forever, the afternoon was coming and with it the inevitable separation, Levanya hugged everyone as hard as her arms would allow her while a young woman who worked in the kitchen loaded her bags into the carriage. together with some young men who worked in the stables...
All the employees of the Darleen house came to say goodbye to her because Levanya was an angel to everyone, she had a noble, kind and humble heart, she didn't care about her status and she talk to everyone as if the titles and hierarchies did not exist.
For her amazing sense of justice and her personality, she had earned the love and appreciation of many people in the town.
Levanya came over to hug everyone because she would miss them too, they were part of her life since she was little after all.
When her time ran out just like Cinderella she had to leave in the black carriage that the school had sent to her. Levannya went into it quickly, but she immediately leaned out the window to take her parents' hand.
Nobody could accompany her in the carriage without a proper reason, only the students could enter Rosenstrauch castle, her mother and father took her hand and moved as the carriage was moving forward, they even ran after it until they could no longer keep up and let go of her hand.
Levannya began to say goodbye to them euphorically, shaking her hand, yelling at her parents that she would be fine and they shouldn't have to worry about her because she would study hard and make them proud...
