An Iridescent Serpent

With nothing to do, she sat around and waited for the boys to be done, wondering why they'd just leave her. They were quite deep in, but surely didn't intend to abandon her.

A few minutes passed when she finally heard a noise, thinking they'd returned she excitedly looked at where the rustling come from, outstretching her arms. "Bubu!" She called out, only for a snake with bright and shining iridescent scales, and a pair of clear light and bright blue eyes slithered towards her.

The snake was large and long, the head already mere inches from her as it's body was still unraveling from the bush. The feeling of peacefulness was still in her, reaching to pet it's head as the body coiled around her, but not quite suffocating.

Both she and the snake were at a stalemate, not moving nor intending to. This continued for several minutes, the snake wrapped around her gently and staring at her, while she pet its head, not attempting to make any other movements or event speak.

She quickly gathered what the boys were doing, nothing this family does is coincidental. Any normal baby would freak out, but she was quite fond of how cold this snake was, and the prettiness. She'd never seen anything like this in her world, but her hand was now getting tired.

Lowering her hand, the snake vanished back into the busy, only for more mini snakes to appear slithering towards it. As soon as she made a noise, the little snakes went from their mother to her, starting to crawl and coil all over her fingers and hands, tiny hissing ensuing.

"Thought I killed 'em, my bad." Nyx said as he re-emerged from the foliage, followed by Isaac speed walking over to her, picking her up and throwing some dangling snakes off her.

Sadly, she reached for the snakes as they slithered off, following their mother snake away. "They really weren't hostile." Isaac commended, observing her body and nearly crushing the snakes on her body that he found.

"Ya worry too much, see? These critters are damn annoying though." Nyx hissed in response, looking at the hissing snakes at their feet, trying to bite them with their nonexistent fangs. Walking over and stepping on them, he bent down to her and reached for the one in her hand, ready to squish it while she pouted.

"Stu!" She wanted to say stop, and her little fingers reached towards him as he laughed, Isaac just sighing as Nyx put the little snake back in her hand, watching her clutch it to her chest as the baby snake slithered close to her chest.

Looking at the snakes at his feet, Isaac ignored them and used his wind magic to brush them off as they scoured away, going back to collect the meat they got, trailing behind with Isaac using his magic.

"Aw, ya letting her keep it? Jealous ya sister liked my gift so much ya got her a new animal?" The redhead snickered, getting ignored by both of them, one not in the mood and the other too fascinated with her brand new friend that looked terrified of them.

She never expected the snake to be a mother, nor for her child to be able to be taken back with her but she wasn't complaining in the slightest. If she recalled, most snakes were independent from birth anyways, so perhaps that was the reason. Though, she couldn't quite figure out why the mother didn't go after her brothers after they were quite frankly throwing her kids around.

"I really wanted to kill the snake too…" Nyx sighed dramatically as they exited the forest, heading on over to where the majority of the family had returned to. "If anyone were to of killed it, that would be me." Isaac said, breaking her out of her trance as they dropped off the animals by the chefs.

Multiple wolves, and a bear. She couldn't make out all the animals, but there were a large variety, including a snake she dared not look at as they excused themselves, heading off to where their mother and Rosalyn had rested waiting for dinner.

"What are ya gonna tell Lady Cyrille bout the snake?" Nyx asked. Stopping abruptly, Isaac took the snake out of her hands and gave it to Nyx, not even looking over at him as he gave his order. "Your job,"

Hearing just those words, Nyx gulped already knowing the worse. "Explain it to the Duke and have him keep it for the time being until we return to the residence."

Annoyed, he violently shook his head. "No! Ya can't expect me to approach 'em?!" He hissed out, absolutely opposed to the idea. For the first time in awhile, she saw her brother smiling, just the tiniest bit.

Patting Nyx on the shoulder with his free hand, "You will, as tonight's loser." Isaac claimed as Nyx huffed. "You stole my kill at the last second ya cheatin…" Silenced by Isaac reminding him of the rules of their game, Nyx begrudgingly made his way to where the Duke was staying, ready to put on his people pleasing skills.

From the sound of it, Nyx rule backfired on himself as he stormed off, wondering just whether the snake would be okay as she and her brother returned to their mother, at long last being held by her again, Isaac excluding all other details other than going deep in the forest, getting a bit of blood on himself and having no bruises.

Dusting off his clothes and blood from his cheek, Nyx ran his fingers through his hair and looked at the small snake cowering in his hand, clearly afraid of the boy. Grinning, he poked at it with his fingers, watching as it struggled to bite him, a mere tickle against his skin. For now it did make a cute pet.

If he had to guess, it would grow to be as long or longer than it's mother, with her already being double his own size. Arriving at the Duke's tent, he lowered his spear and held the snake securely, putting on a bright and polite smile. After this, he would eat the best meal and sleep in the carriage as Isaac kept guard, he was owed that much.
