"I see." It seemed like Jerome was quick to accept my explanation, which seemed really iffy because any normal person would be asking for a bit more explanation. However, there he was, not asking for a single bit of information and just nodding to what I said.

"That's it? You're not gonna ask me anymore?" I asked. I mean, it's not like I particularly hate the situation that has been created, but the thing is that it's a bit irksome, you know? Like, knowing that the other person knows that you are lying and yet they are not asking you for any sort of explanation surely does leave a sour taste in your mouth.

"No." Jerome was quite adamant as he said that. "I mean, it's not like you're gonna say it if I forced the information out of you anyway." He shrugged as he spoke.
