Thirteen

Apeke laid on the bed with a huge smile on her face. She had had fun with Michael. They talked a lot ,about them selves. They talked about anything and everything. He had asked her how she understood him and she had explained. They had kissed again when they were about to depart.

She felt giddy and truly happy. She couldn't sleep that night. She was thinking about their time together. Everything kept playing in her head over and over again.

What was happening to her?

She decided to go to her friend the next day. She would help her make sense of it all.

...

Alani and Omowumi had ended up watching the stars together while talking. They lost track of time. By the time they realized it it had already been past midnight.

"You can stay for the night. It's past midnight already. I'll prepare the guest bedroom for you. "

Alani didn't need much convincing. He would give anything to spend more time with her.

The love birds slept only a wall apart from each other and soon it was dawn.

Omowumi woke up and did her morning routine. She was making breakfast for everyone when Arike came to help her.

"Good morning. How did you sleep?"

"Really well,aunt."

"Good morning."Alani said and Arike screamed.

"It's a ghost!"

"No,Arike it's not a ghost. This is Apeke's brother,Alani." Omowumi explained.

"Oh."

They ate their food in silence. Omowumi heard her friend coming towards her as she was cleaning up.

Arike must have let her in.

"Good morning. Did you go to the festival yesterday?"Apeke asked immediately she say her.

"No."

"Well,I did and you will not believe what happened. " Apeke was about to begin her narration when she saw Alani.

"What are you doing here?"Apeke asked .

"Same as you, visiting."He replied.

"And he was just leaving."Omowumi said.

Alani left after saying his good byes.

"Explain."Apeke demanded and she did.

"So,he spent the night here and he didn't try anything?"

"No,he didn't

He was really nice and sweet."Omowumi smiled and Apeke's eyes widened.

"Nice and sweet? Are we still talking about my brother?"

"Yes ,Apeke you aren't the only one who is allowed to have a love story."At least that was what she thought it was. The gods forbid that she was just another woman to him.

There was a moment of silence. Neither of them knew something what to say.

"I'm sorry."They both apologized at the same time making them laugh.

"I'm sorry if I made it seem like that."Apeke apologized.

"No, it's my fault." Omowumi was genuinely sorry. She hadn't meant to say that. Yes, she had felt a little jealous of Apeke's love life comparing it to her non-existent one but it wasn't Apekeola's fault.

Apekeola shared everything that had happened the night before to her.

"It's good that the prince doesn't want to marry you."

"Yes, it feels like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders. But I have I'll admit, his words hurt my ego though."
