Devotion

Devotion.

If there was a word to characterize the young paladin Zagan, this was the one.

In a world where magic was real and available to humans, it was easy to believe that with effort and luck one could reach the top.

For this reason, even though people believed in their own way in mythical beings like the Eloah, their devotion was ambiguous.

Perhaps before, and we are talking about many centuries ago, they were revered and worshiped more vehemently than now.

But with the passage of time and magical advances, gaining the powers of an Eloah would one day be possible, or so some believed.

Due to this, the devotion of the people was decreasing, and their dependence on magical objects, —such as aetheric pearls, communicators, among others— was increasing, leaving in oblivion the small temples that lived on the offerings of the believers.
